Your own mind.
How can the taking a part of the workers ability to feed himself moral?

So you're not going to provide any supporting arguments or evidence for your assertion that "income tax is immoral." I can't say I'm surprised. To do you the courtesy you will not do me and answer your question, I will point out that a number of taxes could be viewed as "taking a part of one's ability to feed oneself", and that you have provided no reason that this distinction should be made for income tax but not for sales tax, property tax, or any other kind of tax. I will also add that even if we accepted this description of income tax it would still be irrelevant, as I am certain both of us believe that exemptions are appropriate for those whose income is low enough that such a tax would significantly impact their ability to put food on the table.
I humbly await your next dodge or subject change.

That's true, but for the most part, these people are liberal only in letter, not at all in spirit. In substance (such as it is) they are authoritarian conservatives who tend to blindly defend the status quo, especially in terms of established power relations - such as enforced largely through taboos and shaming tactics.

You give some good pluses. On the other hand, such a tax would have to be rather high in order to bring in the same revenue for government as the current setup. I've seen estimates ranging from 30 to 35%. A $20,000 car could well suddenly cost $26,000. This would tend to encourage more black and gray market activity (which would be cool, though, IMHO). I'm most open to any plan that involves reducing the military to only what is needed for national defense, ending counterproductive alliances, taxing only rich parasites, confiscating ill-gotten wealth, etc., reforming welfare to "teach a man to fish" rather than "give a man a fish," providing paid sterilizations, allowing immigration reform through initiative and referenda, encouraging small organic farms and promoting subsidiarity. among other things.

Arizona outlaws abortions based on race, sex
Quote:
Gov. Jan Brewer on Tuesday signed into law House Bill 2443, which makes it a felony for a doctor to perform an abortion based on the sex or race of the fetus.
|
lol wat, you think. This sounds like some shit some white guys just made up, you say.
Quote:
The law allows the father of an aborted fetus - or, if the mother is a minor, the mother's parents - to take legal action against the doctor or other health-care provider who performed the abortion. If convicted of the felony, physicians would face up to seven years in jail and the loss of their medical license.

Re: All Gov Funded Organizations Providing Pro-Choice Options Under Attack
Do you think a lot of Arizona women walk into a clinic and announce "I want an abortion because it is a black female fetus, but don't tell the baby's father." because really, WTF AZ? You don't have real issues to be spending your lawmaking time on?
Quote:
They said statistics show that some populations are increasingly seeking abortions based on the fetus' sex.
Democrats argue that statistics show that neither is happening.
Rep. Steve Montenegro, R-Litchfield Park, said he pushed the legislation because of fears women would choose to abort because they didn't like the gender or the race of the baby.
Rep. Katie Hobbs, D-Phoenix, said the only proof Montenegro offered was a magazine article on such practices in China and India.
|
India and China are so very similar to Arizona that such fears are totally warranted!

Nope, this is not even an anti-eugenics measure.
They're requiring women to get consent for abortions, from their parents if they're underaged, and from the putative fathers, including their rapists and abusive partners.
They know exactly what they're doing.

Re: All Gov Funded Organizations Providing Pro-Choice Options Under Attack
Oh come now. I'm sure Arizona physicians who provide women with access to a legal medical procedure to which they have a constitutional right have nothing to fear. Surely we can rely upon the rational, deliberative, and considerate people of Arizona to engage in measured and civil discourse! Where is any contrary precedent?

Re: All Gov Funded Organizations Providing Pro-Choice Options Under Attack
If it makes you feel better, Arizonaiganders, Indiana is well on its way to further restrictign abortions. Oh, and a proposed amendment that would make exceptions for rape, incest, etc? We can't have that, because women might fake rape to get an abortion.

AND YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE?
It just occurred to me that legislation prohibiting abortion as blood doping is conspicuously absent from all these recent measures.
The only conclusion I can take from that is that these guys are for that.

Sad commentary indeed. My 5 year old knows that babies grow in a woman's uterus. I guess they would rather use tummy and hoohoo when talking with other adults.

I thought I'd mention that James O'Keefe is sending out emails to all his supporters asking for 50,000$ in donations to cover the 'debt' he attained from making the NPR video, so, you know, scam artist.
