So you're not going to provide any supporting arguments or evidence for your assertion that "income tax is immoral." I can't say I'm surprised. To do you the courtesy you will not do me and answer your question, I will point out that a number of taxes could be viewed as "taking a part of one's ability to feed oneself", and that you have provided no reason that this distinction should be made for income tax but not for sales tax, property tax, or any other kind of tax. I will also add that even if we accepted this description of income tax it would still be irrelevant, as I am certain both of us believe that exemptions are appropriate for those whose income is low enough that such a tax would significantly impact their ability to put food on the table.

That's true, but for the most part, these people are liberal only in letter, not at all in spirit. You give some good pluses. On the other hand, such a tax would have to be rather high in order to bring in the same revenue for government as the current setup. I've seen estimates ranging from 30 to 35%. A $20,000 car could well suddenly cost $26,000. This would tend to encourage more black and gray market activity (which would be cool, though, IMHO).
