According to Bing Chat, it would be impossible to copyright the letter "X":
Quote:
you cannot copyright the letter “x” by itself. Copyright is a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression1. It covers both published and unpublished works, including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture1. However, it does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation1. A single letter such as “x” would not be considered an original work of authorship and therefore would not be eligible for copyright protection.
|
Nor could you patent the letter X:
Quote:
No, it is not possible to patent a letter, including the letter “X”. Patents are granted for inventions that are new, useful, and non-obvious. A letter is not an invention and therefore cannot be patented.
|
However:
Quote:
. . . it is possible to trademark a letter or a combination of letters as part of a logo or brand name. Trademarks protect the use of a particular symbol or name in association with specific goods or services.

X marks the spot: the many fellow fans of Elon Musk's favourite letter | Elon Musk | The Guardian
. . . even Luxembourg has gotten into the act:
Quote:
The tiny country nestled between France, Belgium and Germany is perhaps best known for being a tax haven, as well as having the highest GDP per capita in Europe. It’s not a typical visitor destination, but its tourist board has embraced the “X” in its logo.
According to its website, Luxembourg offers many different experiences, including hiking, water sports and historic palaces. Why not book an X-cursion?

I thought "gone wrong" in the title might be a reference to a certain Dunning-Kruger University grad blabbering about LeBron James's son and vaccines, but no, just the usual stuff.
Also, @ "this new widget design looks like an app for a membership only human trafficking gentlemen's club headquartered in Budapest."

Texas Lindsay (tm) just outright looks like a con.
Oh look, she has a substack that “Tells the truth” about Masks and Covid and ironically has been critical of Musk’s New CEO as being part of the censorship industrial complex. There’s charts and everything so she can’t be wrong!
You could light a picture of Musk on fire and then piss on it, while praising 𝕏 and Musk would say Thank You.

Because Twitter used to ask "What are you doing?", my first tweet, so many many many years ago, was "Taking a shit"

Re: How Twitter?
Twitter is making companies advertise to keep check marks and users pay for Twitter to be less crappy. The business model is hostage-taking.
Quote:
What Musk has done—or threatened to do, more accurately—is invert the freemium model that underpins a lot of tech and media businesses: Companies offer a product for free. They try to make it really good. And if they convince enough people that the product is really good, they might get some of them to pay money and get more of that product, whether that means more newspaper articles, powerful features, or customer support. Musk’s tack has been different. He has set a series of fires that have made his social media site worse, not better. Pay up, he reasons, and he will at least hand you a hose.

Proving yet again that, although age-of-consent laws clearly violate the Non-Aggression Principle, theft does not.

Re: How Twitter?
Subreddit r/SanDiegan has banned Twitter/X and links to it:
Quote:
Twitter/X.com are domain banned here due to CSAM on the site.
Since Musk took control of Twitter, he mostly eliminated the Trust and Safety group and stopped paying the vendor that scans for CSAM. As a result, CSAM (child sexual abuse material) has apparently been circulating on Twitter recently (from what I've read elsewhere, the same notorious video that the feds found on Josh Duggar's hard drive which is one of the most repugnant videos out there).
Musk also recently reinstated the account of someone who posted CSAM content.
As a result, we'll be removing any content here that leads to Twitter, or, as he now calls it, X. Whether it's an embed link or a direct link to a tweet. Don't care what outlet is doing it. If you're a reporter or editor, stop embedding links to Twitter in any of your content.
This is less of an issue here than it is in other subs but I want to give people a heads up that content from Twitter or X.com won't get visibility here. If you want to post a screenshot that's OK but please include WHY that content for whatever reason cannot be found anywhere else.
That's all. Keep being awesome. Happy Friday, friends.
If you happen to moderate other subreddits yourself I suggest taking similar action.
