Re: How Twitter?
I installed an app called "one sec" on my iPhone and configured it to make me wait a beat before opening Twitter when I click on it, and as a result I've spent almost no time on it for the past month or two. My life has been better.

Every second of this absolutely brutal beating Mehdi Hasan gives Matt Taibbi is worth watching. To his credit Taibbi seems to be having some genuine cognitive dissonance, i.e. he seems to be struggling with idea that he might be the empty shell of a journalist everyone can plainly see that he has become (if you're not among those who think he always was).

which is especially amusing given I think Mehdi pulled his punches a bit. That all sounded like a professional schooling a high schooler who thinks they can compete in the big leagues only the high schooler happens to be 10 years older than the professional.

Don't know. I don't twat. Things would be better if Twitter was what Opus the Penguin thought it was, a chat room for birds.

Elon Musk and one of his “Twitter Files” writers, Matt Taibbi, don’t seem to be on great terms right now, and that situation probably isn’t getting any better after Musk posted then deleted a DM conversation between the two of them.

As Taibbi's armchair psychoanalyst, I interpret this latest turn of events as his trying to redeem himself for the ethical failures exposed by Mehdi Hasan without admitting any prior wrongdoing. Completely spineless.

I kind of get one part of Taibbi's point. Political figures have had unprecedented access to the moderators at Twitter.
Tiabbi's current radicalization came from the "censorship" of the Great Barrington Declaration, which he felt it was government suppression of journalists. This is why he was so invested in the Twitter files, and I think he lost his objectivity. He seems to have a bit of libertarian bent, and it's always funny how these "libertarians" veer into right-wing nuttiness as soon as the liberals/Democrats do something they don't like.
It's... tainted his previous work for me, and I won't be seeking out his work again, whatever social media platform he lands on.

Re: How Twitter?
One of the problems with reading The Verge is they really like reporting on Musk.
Elon Musk threatens to sue Microsoft - The Verge
Quote:
Musk threatened ‘lawsuit time’ after Microsoft’s advertising platform announced it would stop supporting Twitter.
|
The real news is Microsoft is doing this, not that Musk is making empty threats. This particular feature must not be important enough or provide enough of a competitive advantage for Microsoft to pony up for an API subscription. As much as Google dominates advertising on the internet, Bing actually pulls in a lot revenue for Microsoft, so this wouldn't be a casual decision.
Proof that grown adults run Twitter:
Quote:
Microsoft declined to comment. Twitter’s press email replied with a poop emoji when reached for comment.

Re: How Twitter?
Truth, Justice, and the American Twit(er).
Elon Musk says he’ll create ‘TruthGPT’ to counter AI ‘bias’
"Billionaire Twitter owner Elon Musk is again sounding warning bells on the dangers of artificial intelligence to humanity — and claiming that a popular chatbot has a liberal bias that he plans to counter with his own AI creation.
Musk told Fox News host Tucker Carlson in a segment aired Monday night that he plans to create an alternative to the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT that he is calling “TruthGPT,” which will be a “maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe.”
The idea, Musk said, is that an AI that wants to understand humanity is less likely to destroy it.
Musk also said he’s worried that ChatGPT “is being trained to be politically correct.”"

Re: How Twitter?
That goes along well with this story, a few weeks ago Musk put out a 1 million fake money prize for anyone who can prove his Emerald mine background. His father had to step in and tell him to stop telling lies to his friends, of course the Emerald Mines were real, you grew up rich son, also maybe clean your room.
Musk is a high school incel who thinks himself Tony Stark.

"Elon Musk never owned an emerald mine."
Prove that wrong and you get a million dollars in doge coin!
He is correct of course. Elon Musk has never owned an emerald mine.

The emerald mine he used to brag about? You know, considering this and the April 2020 prediction that COVID had likely run its course, there may be a wisp of a possibility that Space Karen might be a notch or two below "genius."

Re: How Twitter?
Musk’s offer was 1 million dogecoins for proof of the mines existence, not to prove that he owned it (That was offered at 69.420 by a musk ass licker account), also 1 million dogecoins is around $80,000 US assuming there’s anyway to extract $80,000 from the doge meme system in the first place.
The funny part is that Musk himself has claimed that the mine existed, it’s just that it seems to colide with his current ‘pulled himself up by his bootstraps’ personal image so he would like if everyone would forget that he once bragged about his rich family.

Musk doesn't realize there are people who are rooting for the AI
and they want humanity destroyed
