Thread-killing is not a black and white thing. I note that farren killed this thread for almost 9 days by using the words 'cortex' and 'neurological'. I declare him ahead on points.

I expect there's some socio-psychological reason why people want to have negative fame, like graffiti and (to a lesser extent if it's not personally identifiable) vandalism. A kind of glorying in self-defeat, aggressively adopting failure to avoid having it judged thus by someone else.
