It was kind of tornadic last night. Missed me again. I calculated the odds of a tornado striking within the same acre in Tornado Alley that you are on any certain day to be 0.0001 micromorts (a micro mortality is one in a million chance of an event or activity killing a person), or approximately the same risk as getting accidentally skewered by a javelin at a track meet. Getting out of bed is more risky.

Nice days and crappy nights.  My dogs won't sleep at night with the storms and I'm stuck inside at work during the days.
There was a tornado or something south of us 20-30 miles and some baseball to softball (and larger) hail. We only had rain and some of that window shaking lightning/thunder. One hit close enough that we all felt it like a little mini earthquake after an earsplitting assplosion.
Remind me why I live here again?

I'm hesitant to start new threads cos I'm a n00b. So I'm bumping old ones.. 
Today where I live - OMG Ice rain, fucking ice everywhere and I take the bus - actually 2 buses, so it was treacherous and painful, walking to/between the stops like a 99 year old granny, trying not to fall.

That sounds like here in Puddle City. We're now day...what, four, five?...in a highly unusual snowfall which has not subsequently melted away because temperatures have stayed below freezing for the duration. None of the local municipalities are adequately prepared for inclement conditions of this type...all are woefully underprepared.
Consequently, heavily used thoroughfares, usually walkways, have become compacted ice. Here, here's a video of a local amateur hockey player suiting up and skating on his suburban street.
Tomorrow starts the 'big thaw'...maybe...it's been put off once...no, twice...and freezing rain is forecast _before_ that happens.
Whooopeee.
And perhaps flooding after that happens.
Whoooopeee.
I have a set of huge icicles hanging off one corner of the house. I'm interested to see if the stalactite portion will meet up and join the stalagmite portion to create an ice column from ground to beam.

We had freezing rain yesterday with black ice everywhere. I slipped very slightly with one foot on my driveway. Ordinarily it wouldn't be worth mentioning, but I managed to re-injure my hamstring, which I had hurt badly on New Year's Eve, also by stumbling with the other foot.
Today we have fog and temps in the high 30s. Should be unseasonably warm for the rest of the week.

We had like 6 inches of snow (see, I demetrified it for youse already), which melted like crazy and then the temperature dropped, so we now have clean roads and mostly snow-free yards with large crunchy blobs here and there and mostly clean sidewalks with sneaky icey patches.

I think it's gonna try to tornado us on Sunday so there is that. But if y'all would keep the cold over there I'd be grateful. This is the first year in a long time that my feet haven't been icicles from December to May.
