One of my earliest musical memories is of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald but I couldn't have told you it was Gordon Lightfoot. In fact I listened to a bunch of his stuff last night and knew 90% of it but wouldn't have been able to name one song before that.

Yeah, Jim Brown was pretty obviously the greatest runningback in NFL history in the same way that Herschel Walker was the best rb in college fb history.

In 2020, Brown was named the greatest college football player with Walker coming in second. I don't think the award was based on his cfb football stats as much as it was his NFL career (and the reality that Brown was snubbed for a heisman in 56 A History Lesson: Jim Brown Deserved The Heisman - Black Shoe Diaries). Also, while even then I knew Herschel was not a great guy in spite of being a great runningback, he had yet to go full maggot.
Brown though was great in the NFL while also being an activist for social justice when such stances carried a heavier cost than they do today.
