You have to account for the propaganda regarding Ukraine.
24/7 the people are being forced to support Ukraine. No such propaganda effort in regards Syria (who are white btw).
So I would recommend thinking a bit more, and also educating a bit more, otherwise you will fall for the trap set for you.

Not having read or heard of the book until just now, I wonder if she's representing it accurately. I found this response from the author to similar critiques and he is pretty adamant that racial composition of the population wasn't his concern.

As I know it’s coming, I can only hope the live action Lilo & Stitch pisses at least a few people off for dumb reasons. Maybe they’ll keep the scenes where Lilo harasses the tourists after they treat her poorly.
Also, um, in the original story one could make the argument that The little Mermaid is pasty white because she lacks a soul and is the embodiment of magical sea foam, so how dare they make her brown, they should make her white to show her lack of soul… er wait.
Gotta be honest, I figured our dystopian future would include horrors like deepfake revenge porn and AI bot catfishing, but I was not expecting "using AI to whitewash diverse movie characters."
