Whoa there, Captain Canada. All that socialized medicine you've been taking is rotting your brain.
Jerome Da Preposterous Fraud is a busy man, what with those fifteen wonderful families and having to pay one fucktillion dollars per hour in taxes and all, but in good time he'll be along with a big fat lie that ties together the entire argument. And don't you worry none. If anyone has the temerity to point out that he's told a big fat lie, he'll simply pretend he never said it or deny that it has anything to do with his real point.
In this instance, the real point is that depicting Obama as a pair of shining white eyes against an all-black background is racist only if one is actively looking to be offended. You know, just like minstrel shows, Amos and Andy, and George Wallace.
You might have had a leg to stand on here if the Obama picture featured eyeballs and blazing white teeth shining in the dark, but as matters actually stand you've got nothing.

Racism denotes a discrimination or prejudice of some sort based upon race. This looks like a bad joke in bad taste. It reminds me of the Bush/chimp pictures we saw over the last eight years.
When such things are labeled as racist and people kvetch over such things then real racism is lost in the noise.

Isn't it obvious? It is all about the humor. Being a negro is inherently funny. If that is not true, why then do they call it "black humor"? Only a racist would fail to see that.

"It's like local political version of Saturday Night Live, which is actually where the joke came from."
Quote:
A South Carolina lawmaker on Thursday called a Republican gubernatorial candidate of Indian descent a "raghead," saying we have one in the White House, we don't need one in the governor's mansion.
Republican state Sen. Jake Knotts later apologized for the slur, saying the remarks about President Barack Obama and state Rep. Nikki Haley were meant as a joke.
They came on Internet political talk show, Pub Politics. Co-host Phil Bailey said Knotts said, "We've already got a raghead in the White House, we don't need another raghead in the governor's mansion."
|
lolpology
Quote:
Knotts did issue an apology shortly after his remarks. The senator said, "I still believe Ms. Haley is pretending to be someone she is not, much as Obama did, but I do apologize to both for an unintended slur."
|
See it was all unintended.
I lifted this from Wonkette.

First, lol@unintended. How the fuck is "raghead" unintended? I suppose he really meant that they both work out excessively and cool off afterwards with a washrag. He's just saying that we need more pasty fatasses like him in government.
Second, is the "pretending" part of the Sekrit Mooslim narrative or the birther narrative? Or is it intentionally vague so it can be both until he's questioned and denies that it's either?

Which, in turn, is part of the larger "all Democratic officeholders are illegitimate in some sinister yet unspecified manner" narrative.

Which, no doubt, is the exact intention. That way, the "apologizer" gets to have his cake and eat it too.
He goes through the motions of an apology, so no one can say that he didn't apologize. This will, at the very least, reduce the accusations of racism. In the meantime, all of his racist supporters are well-aware that the apology isn't genuine, and so he doesn't lose face with them. In fact, just the opposite: now they get to think of him as being a poor "good ole boy" like themselves who's supposedly being "oppressed" by those "durn librals."
It's a win-win situation!
[ETA: When I lived in North Carolina, we used to see Jesse Helms pull this kind of stunt all the time. He'd make some outrageously bigoted remark, then quickly offer a half-hearted apology. The press would immediately back off and forget all about the incident. And they'd act shocked -- shocked, I tell you -- the next time he did it, as if it were surprising to learn (again) that the man was a vicious bigot. But his supporters knew better, and loved him for it. Meanwhile, they blathered on and on about how he was "constantly" being "attacked" by all those "durn libruls".]
Cheers,
Michael

I once had a book loaned to me by my boss which was pretty much a novel with that as a meta narrative.

Actually, though, she's a secret Sikh, which is even worse, because we know even less about them! Supposedly they believe in gurus and that there ARE no Muslims (or Hindus), but what are they hiding beneath those turbans?

Those are damned fine questions. The original statement, the one for which he issued the laughable non-apology, was "We've already got a raghead in the White House, we don't need another raghead in the governor's mansion." That suggests Sekrit Mooslim narrative to me, because all conservatives know that raghead=Arab and Arab=Mooslim.
Then again, Hateful and Willfully Ignorant Jackoff English is a living language that constantly grows and evolves. It's possible that due to the advent of teabaggery and the wingnut chic popularity of overt racism, the meaning of "raghead" has evolved to include "jiggaboo," "Kenyan" and/or "not a natural-born citizen of the United States."

God I hate you anti-originalist, "pragmatist" liberal activists who distort the law to suit your own anti-American agendas. It doesn't matter what "raghead" means now! Or what it has "evolved" (lol) to mean. What is important is the original meaning of "raghead" at the time it was used by the Framers. Specifically, what did "raghead" mean to Emerich de Vattel?

And by necessary extension to Jesus Christ, since He and Vattel are in fact the same person.

Re: More blithe racism
Dan Hall, a Republican state senator from Minnesota, laudably supports funding public literacy programs. Of course, the money has to come from somewhere, and it might as well come at the expense of fluff, frivolousness and floo-flah such as school integration programs. After all, desegregation ruined the formerly great city of Minneapolis:
Quote:
“I watched Minneapolis get destroyed, so I not only didn’t want my kids in the school system. I took them out of Minneapolis because they ruined our neighborhoods with integration and [de]segregation.”
|
You leftarded jackoffs might think Sen. Hall is racist, but you'd be wrong because his BEST FRIENDS are ni ... ji ... coo ... por ... col ... dar ... minorities, and they AGREE that integration is wrong!
Quote:
"My best friends are minority, they think integration in foolish. It’s a ploy to get more money."
|
Rumors that during Sen. Hall's formative years his family had a "minority" maid who was just like one of the family remain unconfirmed.

It is probably quite true that Hall's best friends are minority. Out of all the people he knows it is almost certainly true that a very small minority are willing to identify themselves as his friends.

Nearly Half Of Mississippi Republicans Think Interracial Marriage Should Be Illegal | TPMDC
Quote:
In a PPP poll released Thursday, a 46% plurality of registered Republican voters said they thought interracial marriage was not just wrong, but that it should be illegal.
...
The poll also found that voters who thought interracial marriage should be banned liked Barbour, Palin, and Huckabee the most among the slate of potential GOP presidential candidates. Seventy-nine percent of those voters said they approved of Gov. Barbour's job performance, while 74% said they had a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin, and 73% viewed Huckabee favorably.
