He did not say that, so now you're the one lying.

The bottom of page 539 in regards to his many books he read,

Lessans wrote,
"....I am now regarded as a highly educated individual, an intellectual."
You gotta be kidding doc. You, as usual, misconstrued that sentence. Why didn't you post more of it so it wouldn't be misleading? Because you want it to be misleading. Why do you have a vendetta against me?

Misconstrued how?

For being so smart and writing so clearly (according to you) his words sure need a lot of explaining and context.

Another that demonstrates his character,

Lessans wrote, lines 6 - 7 on page 4,
"...my informal education was far superior to his formal educarion."
This was said without any knowledge of just what the professors education was.

This is really interesting, near the bottom of page 3
"If my demonstration doesn't prove me right, then and then only am I wrong."
Well his 'demonstration' has not proved him right, this demonstration was seriously lacking in the book, consisting primarily of vague assertions, and imaginary conversations with people who were easily swayed to his way of thinking. Thus Lessans is wrong since there is no verifiable proof, and any observations were merely hinted at and not presented in any detail, they were, in fact, only thought experiments with no basis in reality. Also many of his claims have been demonstrated, by actual evidence, to be wrong.

Truth and honesty must be upheld, and lies and falsehoods must be resisted. It's not you, it's the book and what you are saying. But since you have so much of yourself invested in the book, it may be partly you.

LadyShea, it takes two to tango. If people are going to prejudge this work, then there is no conversation. They will end up concluding that he has to be wrong, and believe it.

You missed the entire point of that passage. I really give up.

But you're all washed up doc. These were not vague assertions. You have no knowledge of this book, so who are you to talk?:doh::doh:

You're like the energizer bunny; you go on and on and on and on, and never stop saying the same thing over and over and over again. Why not use your energy for something more productive?

I notice that you only objected to the opinion on the 'value' on the book and did not object to the suggestion of it's lack of truth and that it was considered fiction. Actually I believe that the book does have some value as do many works of fiction, there is usually some lesson to be learned, and the 'Decline and Fall of all Evil' is no exception. Read with the proper frame of mind there are many questons raised that could lead to many interesting discussons. Indeed there are many other works of fiction that raise important social questions.

Because you do not stop repeating the same old fiction in the book, when you stop perpetuating the lie, I'll stop calling you on it, along with everyone else on this thread. I believe the common goal here is to uphold truth and honesty.

Oh BTW I am doing other things, this is my rest period between other projects, but that does not mean that it has no value for me.

I will ask you again, what is the pay off for you to keep telling me that this book is fiction. It's not fiction, and I'm sorry to disappoint you.

Sidhe, you tell me I can't handle the truth and in the next breath you ask what he actually wrote about. Don't you find that rather odd?
Not really it was a joke, it wasn't sincere. :)

I am wondering about the book because I have no idea what it is and you yourself said you have deleted all links to it. That was sincere. 346 pages to find out what the book is seems a bit of a chore when I could just ask.

Maybe you'll finally get the courage to buy the book. I swear to you you won't be disappointed.

It's not anybody's fault. Please don't think that. I am upset because you think someone's to blame. No one is to blame. If I leave, I want all of you to know that. NO ONE IS TO BLAME FOR THIS FIASCO. :(

Sidhe is apparently a physics student...I am pretty sure he'd be pissed off if he spent money on the book only to learn that Lessans claims that we see (gain information) faster than the speed of light, thereby negating the laws of physics.

I don't know, it would depend on his sense of Humor. I once read a book 'The Decline and Fall of Practically Everyone' really funny take on history. Sidhe might enjoy the book, but I doubt he would want to spend that much on a joke.

Peacegirl if you were not so obsessed with this thread it would have ended a long time ago. It is you who must let go of your fantasy and face reality.

No. I already told you that newbies may ask questions from time to time and bump this thread, which is at my home-forum. I will make comments in it as I feel, just like you will.

Our liking each other is beside the point
