...Aaaand once again we take the whole range of objections to this book and file them under "people don't understand because they are meanies" so that you do not have to face up to the very simple fact that the book itself is the work of a hugely ignorant person who wanted to promote himself as a sort of universal savant and failed. He happily blundered into fields of knowledge that he knew nothing about, sometimes without noticing.

You do not want to face up to this because it forces you to face a reality that is more complex and does not come with a promise of "And-she-lived-happily-forever-after." You would rather have a promise based on nonsense than a reality that is complex and unpredictable. You are not alone in this.

All this is undeniable, by the way, because it is based on an astute observation. You would understand if only you took the time to grasp the underlying relations.
