Re: Miscellany
I remember that one Shakespeare play was really anti-semantic. The Merchant of Venus, I think.

Re: Miscellany
Ok, I didn't really know where to post this, but it is something I had to share.
Not a lot of people know much about me and my life, as I am fairly guarded with details. However, for the purpose of this post, I will have to let people see some of me.
Ok, today, I worked 14 hours of overtime back in the warehouse, loading trucks. Not my department, but it's very peaceful work, solitary and not challenging, so I am able to think wherever my mind may choose to go.
Anyway, a truck came in that was bound for Shreveport, La. The driver and his wife came in, and asked me which door to back in to. I could tell right away, that this man was, how do I put this without offending...slower thinking.
Then he asked where the men's and ladie's rooms were (most truckers do). I started to tell him how to get there, but I could see he was lost with my explanation, so I took them down there myself, and waited for them, to be sure they got back ok. You don't want to get lost and wander somewhere where you could get hurt.
Anyway, he comes out first, and we're standing there, waiting for his wife. They're probably in their mid 50's or so, and I ask how long they'd been married. He tells me that he and his wife met at some camp for 'retarded kids' (his words) 35 years ago, and that they'd been married 31 years. I asked him if they were counselors, and he says "No, we were a couple of the retards", and he starts laughing.
So, the whole time I'm loading their truck, they're sitting on the bench. Holding hands. I get done loading the truck, and unhook the dock plate and whatnot, and show the man where to sign the load sheets...he gives the papers to his wife, looks me square in the eye and says "I can't write".
Finally, they go out to pull the trailer off so they can close the doors, and I'm thinking, "How did he get a license, let alone a commercial trucker's license, without being able to write?"
I watch from the dock door as they close the trailer doors, working in perfect unison. They've done it thousands of times. They walk up to the cab, and he opens the door for her, takes her hand, and like a perfect gentleman, helps her up. It brought tears to my eyes, literally. The unspoken love these two had was almost palpable.
I'm thinking...here are two people who've got everything.
Anyway, sorry for being sappy, but I was moved by the fact that these two people, who've probably struggled in 'normal society' (whatever that means), their entire lives, have flourished where their hearts are concerned.
I mean, I have a fairly decent I.Q., but I've never known what they have.

Just this past week I've started plugging my mouse into the one of the dual USB ports on the left hand side of the inspiron instead of into one of the quad USB ports the back.

Re: Miscellany
Awww, quiet bear, that was smarmy, but I liked it.
Here's another touching story: We just got our dialtone back after FOUR DAYS. We have a temporary drop, which they will permanentize in 7 to 31 days. Until then: Big black cord running through the back yard. I am so going to trip on that.
Also, even though I am complaining, I have to secretly admit that I don't give any kind of a fuck about not getting phone calls.
Oh, plus: My mom is coming tomorrow, so Maturin has PUNISHED ME FROM THE KITCHEN. He is afraid I will mess up his nice cleaning job, which I totally would.
And so, anyway, I have these ridiculous volumes of work to do still, and I just have no idea how I'm going to do it all in time. But then yesterday, I was having a hard time even getting anything done until I drank a beer, and came back here and worked really fast! So I have decided that I'd better just start drinking beer in the mornings from now on so I can be one of those "high functioning alcoholics."
I had read about them before, but I never tried it for some reason.

I am eating an egg salad sandwich. I was surprised to learn my husband also likes egg salad sandwiches when we had been married like 5 years already.

Add a couple of well placed piercings and you're just about set for the guest lecture circuit and invitations to participate in city boards!

Re: Miscellany
Know what these are pictures of?
A MOSQUITO BITE.
A MOSQUITO BITE ON MY FOOT!
I am sorry about my toenails. If I had known I was going to get such a badassed mosquito bite today, I would have done them. SORRY.
Anyway, it is getting bigger and redder now, but I am too lazy to take pictures and stuff again. I think that it is probably just going to keep getting bigger until it explodes, though, so when it does that, I will take more pictures.

If those were my feet, I'd be looking at the Pirate Pete's Pegleg catalog.

I didn't actually see the mosquito. That is my right foot, which is the haunted one, so it would make sense I should get bitten by an elephant on it.
Anyways, it's now spread to the whole top of my foot, all the way around. There's no real demarcation anymore, so it just looks like I have one normal foot and one fat red one. I just went to put on some shoes to go outside, and I can't get the one on all the way.
I should totally be having a videocast or something.

You meant singular. My left foot is still pretty. It's just the toenail polish plus my feet are pretty dirty and stuff from walking around all day that is making the one look skanky.
It cleans up nice, though.
