I'm not sure what to think on one hand, but on the other, this is Archer. I'm sure it'll still be hilarious.

I just got back from Archer Live! The panel consisted of some executive producer dude, plus Archer, Lana, Cheryl, Pam and Krieger. Among other things, they a) read a scene that Pam wrote for this event, b) read a scene from the new season, c) acted out a scene from season 3 (with audience members playing the characters), and d) showed clips from the new season.
I had lots of LOLs. I wish you all could have joined me.
We just got the blu-ray of season 4, so yay on that since it's the only season not on netflix.
I haven't talked about the season 5 premier because I have only watched it once and haven't thoroughly digested it.
I wasn't sure if the Archer Vice extended fantasy cutaway was an elaborate throw-away joke or if it was a legit peek at the season. Based on the previews for next week, I'm leaning toward the latter, though still not sure.
I took it as an extended preview of the upcoming season that Archer dreamed could happen if they went ahead and tried to sell a ton of the cocaine. I'm looking forward to all the Burt Reynoldsing that's going to happen. Unless it all happens in one episode then I'll be a little sad.
AVC: The first episode ends with that lengthy montage of things coming up in episodes to be seen. Was that you trying to assure the fans that it’s still going to be basically the same show?
AR: Yes, very much so. When that was written, we wrote this trailer, and then it was all sort of place-holder stuff, and I thought, oh yeah, we'll get to that and somebody will be kicked out of a helicopter at 3,000 feet. So we said, "We'll wait and we'll finish the trailer, because we're going to need the existing footage and blah blah blah." Then it turned out that almost none of the things in the original trailer as written wound up in the season. So we went back—and I guess how they make real trailers—watched seven episodes and used footage to put in the trailer. And hopefully, it does look very similar to what it traditionally has, but with enough of a change to be interesting. Anew.

Me too.
Even knowing that they were changing direction this season, I half suspected that the extended cutaway was just Archer's daydream, with a bunch of throwaway visual jokes, rather than an actual reverse clip show, until I caught up at the AV Club.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought, and I've been avoiding the AV club because I keep hearing it's spoilertastic. But if the ep itself is spoilertastic, why the hell am I even still bothering?
I didn't see the episode until just now on account of being on the road last week, but yeah they told us at the live event that the show will become Archer Vice in episode 3 of the new season.
I totally forgot about Lucy, daughter of the devil, until I was rewatching a season 3 or 4 episode and Archer completely name-dropped it (and called it underrated which is way true). That's another show where HJB voiced some poor schmo. Sure it was the devil, but he was paunchy and wore a Cosby sweater.
Man, I totally thought they were setting up the obvious bitcoin joke last night, with Krieger talking about how Kriegerands could totally be exchanged safely for real money at any time. I mean, I knew they weren't going to make any money selling all that coke, I just guessed wrong as to how they were going to fuck it up.
