Why do people keep putting him in this? He's far too old to be in a 'prequel' to the existing movies (at least as anyone except the Tribble guy - Mudd, was it?).

The concept that there are cops protecting time itself is too ludicrous to take seriously. They should drop time travel altogether from any and all future Star Trek plotlines.

Under no circumstances should Quentin Tarantino be allowed to befoul Star Trek.

'Kay then, Tom Cruise as Scotty. "Captain, the dilithium crystals are clogged with thetans! I cannut give ye warp five for at least eight hours!"
However! Neither Rick Berman nor Brandon Braga appear to have their names attached to the writing credits, so there's hope yet!
That is interesting to know. Hopefully they won't fuck it up. I wonder how long it will be until they can begin casting. My guess is that the casting stage will have to wait until there is a complete script. I do hope that the people who play the principle characters are unknown actors and actresses as opposed to established ones.

I think it's time to resurrect this thread. Paramount has announced that Star Trek XI will open Christmas Day 2008.
Furthermore, rumour has it that Kirk, Spock and McCoy will be played by Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise.
Ahh. Big name actors. Not interested. I want unknown actors and actresses to play the principal roles. Not established actors with big egos (not that any of the actors cited necessarily have oversized egos).

Exactly!1 Dude is just a little too recognizably psychotic to pull off Spock right at the mo. Then again, the movie will probably takes ages to come out and by then the association might have faded for me.
