This has nothing to do with the topic, but I found it funny.

Every time they do that, they introduce ze time cops. I feel that's even worse.

The concept that there are cops protecting time itself is too ludicrous to take seriously. They should drop time travel altogether from any and all future Star Trek plotlines.

The first draft of the script is complete.

This does not fill me with confidence''On the one hand, for people who love Star Trek, the fix that they will get will be really satisfying,'' Abrams said. ''For people who've never seen it or know it vaguely, I think they will enjoy it equally, because the movie does not require you to know anything about Star Trek. I would actually prefer [that] people don't know the series, because I feel like they will come to it with an open mind.''

However! Neither Rick Berman nor Brandon Braga appear to have their names attached to the writing credits, so there's hope yet!

That is interesting to know. Hopefully they won't fuck it up. I wonder how long it will be until they can begin casting. My guess is that the casting stage will have to wait until there is a complete script. I do hope that the people who play the principle characters are unknown actors and actresses as opposed to established ones.

I think it's time to resurrect this thread. Paramount has announced that Star Trek XI will open Christmas Day 2008.

Furthermore, rumour has it that Kirk, Spock and McCoy will be played by Matt Damon, Adrien Brody and Gary Sinise.

However, Sinise is 52 ... how could he play a young McCoy?

Ahh. Big name actors. Not interested. I want unknown actors and actresses to play the principal roles. Not established actors with big egos (not that any of the actors cited necessarily have oversized egos).

I think, both physically and in terms of capability, it's an excellent choice.

Exactly!1 Dude is just a little too recognizably psychotic to pull off Spock right at the mo. Then again, the movie will probably takes ages to come out and by then the association might have faded for me.

Oh also I heard Nimoy is going to have a role or cameo, but they're still in negotiations with Shatner.
