I heard that too. And just a few episodes in, it seems to be dark humor. I haven’t gotten to any violent scenes, but you definitely get the impression the stalker is crazy.

I also heard it’s based on real events, namely the author and lead actor. So that’s intriguing.

I enjoyed it, but wouldn't call it great. The look is excellent, the dark humour is in the right ballpark but often didn't quite land for me, and the pathos that should have hit harder somehow didn't. Not quite sure if it's to do with the writing or the pacing or something else. Possibly they just tried to put too much in - neither the Good, Bad & Ugly style MacGuffin hunt nor the character backstories have enough room.

Ive watched some of it. No violence yet, lots of dark comedy and awkward situations which I find harder to watch than violence.

I’ve just watched the first episode.

How far into it are you?

The pace is pretty frenetic.

I enjoyed the dark humor, but I often knew it was coming which made it sort of safe and less funny.

I think they put aesthetics or looking cool over plot and character and anything approaching realism kind of leaning in to the video game roots.

Im a big Walton Goggins fan, and he was pretty great.

I’m down for more, maybe they will go a bit slower or deeper into the story next season.

It was going good but took a weird, serious turn which I could not get into. I think I got to episode 6 but can't bring myself to watch further, why I do not know.

Has anyone watched Slow Horses? I've just mega-binged the first 3 seasons in 2 days.

Quote:
Slow Horses is a British spy thriller television series based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Herron. Slough House is an administrative purgatory for MI5 service rejects who have seriously failed a task but have not been sacked.
Gary Oldman is just so fucking good in it as the head of Slough House. Like we all know Gary Oldman is amazing and he just keeps on giving in this comedy/drama gem. I really liked Jack Lowden as River Cartwright as well. I'd never seen him before, but he's very likeable and believable as a decent MI5 agent that feels he shouldn't be in Slough House.

If you like spy stuff, you'll probably like this. I loved it.

Mega-binge might be a bit of an exaggeration as each season is only 6 episodes, but it was 3 seasons :D

I love Slow Horses - Gary Oldman is amazing as Jackson Lamb. He's so good, I can't imagine anyone else playing that role. So much cynicism! Seeing him play both George Smiley and Jackson Lamb cracks me up too

The new season starts today (I think) and I'm totally psyched.

In honor of Friday the 13th, I started watching the 2nd season of "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."

It's fine. I like epic high fantasy shit like this.

Once I can watch Slow Horses on something I have, I don’t have Appletv , I will it looks really good. This might sound lame but I started watching Hero’s on prime. It’s from the 2000s but I had never seen or heard of it so it makes a good binge.

And as I am watching a thought occurs. Hayden Pantierre’s eyelashes in this show are what a young girl’s eyelashes should be. Not what some are doing today.

I don't think stupid is the word. It just doesn't really live up to its potential. It still has some great stuff though.

I stopped after the first episode of season 2. You and Crumb are right. So much potential down the drain.

I binged "Kevin Can Fuck Himself" yesterday, to the detriment of my work day. Both seasons are on Netflix now.

The show is a high concept drama/comedy. It has two styles, the first is a broad 3 camera sitcom, where a wild man-child Kevin is the main character. He comes up with wacky ideas, and has a group of enablers who help him get through. The second style is a gritty realistic drama, focused on Alison, the long suffering wife. As soon as Kevin is out of the room, the rooms go from "sitcom lighting" with a laugh track to "dramatic lighting" with dramatic music.

Alison is deeply unhappy taking care of Kevin, and her limit is hit when she discovers he has drained their life savings without her knowing, shredding the remainders of her dreams. The first season is dedicated to Alison figuring out how murder her husband and get away with it, only to be thwarted constantly by Kevin's "main character" plot armor.

I loved this, one reason why I binged the whole damned thing. Annie Murphy from Schitt's Creek is the star and she's great in both aspects of the show.

I started up with the new "Matlock" series.
The Pilot was promising, and the gags keep a pretty good pace, but episode plot lines rapidly become quite predictable.

Kathy Bates and Beau Bridges are fun to watch. The opening plot looks to wrap up fairly quickly, I think, and then we'll see how well they can carry the series.

After what feels like kind of a dry spell for appointment TV, I'm finding all kinds of new stuff to watch. (new as in new episodes, not necessarily new shows)

Just wrapped up "Agatha All Along".

"Star Treks Lower Decks" and "What We Do in the Shadows" are back.

And we are well into the first third of the long-awaited "From" then "Silo" then "Severance" trifecta, so, yay!

Just need "Yellowjackets" season 3 and my life will be complete.

I'm too old to be waiting years for new seasons of things. I want the next seasons of Yellowjackets, The Last of Us, All Of Us Are Dead, Squid Game, Handmaid's Tale... and I'm sure more that I can't remember now.
