lisarea made albondigas!

Only with ground turkey. And an unusual choice of veggies. Still her recipe pretty much matches my mom's albondigas. Except we add a raw egg to the meat which is beef in albondigas usually. And she added chicken stock instead of water, though I've cheated and used that in my albondigas instead of letting it take forever to make its own veggie-meat stock.

Do you use mint in yours? It sounds kind of weird and counterintuitive, which usually means it's really good.

I think we're having ratatouille tonight, but I haven't checked to make sure I have everything for it yet. I should probably do that soon, eh?

Zucchini barley risotto. I think. Assuming I didn't just destroy the barley by overtoasting it.

Oregano in the meatballs for albondigas, according to the way I learned from mom. No mint in her cooking repertoire.

Speaking of stuffed cabbage, though, my Arab boyfriend's family stuffed zucchini recipe had mint. And saffron.

Greek meatballs are made with mint. My mom's keftedes are notably minty.

I've never had minty meatballs, but now I want to try that.

I'm a little scared, though, so when I make those, I will make sure I have a frozen pizza or something just in case.

We had tacos tonight.

:excited:

I went to Claim Jumper for a late lunch/early dinner. It's a CJ that opened recently and they have some bugs to work out before they are up to par for that chain. So when my entree came out after I waited 40 minutes, but my appetizer [seared ahi] and salad [chopped blue cheese wedge] had not showed yet, it was a real dish pile-up when they finally came out. I didn't mind the whole thing much 'cuz I was boozin' it up on a couple of Long Islands and needed to be there a long time.

But I got the salad and appetizer for free. Wheeee!

At least they are hard working bugs, at least until they are outta there!

Another time I went to that particular Claim Jumper, they overcooked the entree. I mentioned it, but didn't ask to get another steak. So that was free.

It's getting to be cheap to go there!
