There was a time when liv (of memory ever glorious) put lots and lots of search terms on each smilie. Most religiously, the artist.

And the search feature searches those keywords as well as the smilie replacement text and hover text. We just can't see what they are.

Try searching for 'darkmoon' - 163 smilies. Or 'zikes' - 50 smilies.

So my guess is 'fart' is part of the artist's name? Perhaps?

Yes, if you right-click on, say, the toblerone smilie and look at its properties, you'll see that its filename is:
