We'll surely be treated to multiple opinion pieces about how the Peloton also sends the wrong message in a time where austerity is needed to blunt the effects of the Biden administration's mishandling of the pandemic.
And don't be surprised if we find that Hunter Biden once sat on that goddamn thing.

Well, at least the Trump removal trial won't be going forward. The Defend Our Freedoms Foundation ("DOFF" ) is suing Chuck Schumer and Kamala Harris to shut that shit down.
If the structure and content of the complaint seem somehow familiar, check out the identity of plaintiff's counsel.

Re: Good King Trump
It's in the first few paragraphs:
Quote:
The unassuming lawyer who worked on the plan, Jeffrey Clark, had been devising ways to cast doubt on the election results and to bolster Mr. Trump’s continuing legal battles and the pressure on Georgia politicians. Because Mr. Rosen had refused the president’s entreaties to carry out those plans, Mr. Trump was about to decide whether to fire Mr. Rosen and replace him with Mr. Clark.
The department officials, convened on a conference call, then asked each other: What will you do if Mr. Rosen is dismissed?
The answer was unanimous. They would resign.
Their informal pact ultimately helped persuade Mr. Trump to keep Mr. Rosen in place, calculating that a furor over mass resignations at the top of the Justice Department would eclipse any attention on his baseless accusations of voter fraud.

Re: Good King Trump
Question for people who've paid more attention to all this shit:
Assuming the articles of impeachment are sent to the Senate tomorrow (Monday 25th), why isn't the trial starting the next day, as required?
Has it been delayed until 8th Feb because the entire Democratic Party is still spinelessly caving in to Mitch's every dishonest delaying demand? Or is there actually a good reason?
Bonus question:
One of the reasons floated is to allow Dump time to assemble his legal team. But will a couple of extra weeks be enough? Is there anyone left prepared to work with him?

I don't know exactly how it works, but I image that the the trial will "start" immediately, but procedural mechanisms will allow the Senate to delay anything happening until the 8th.
I don't know why it's being delayed, the news says it's because the Republicans have been asking for more time (for their own reasons), and the Democrats want to get as much of Biden's appointments done before taking up the trial.
I think he'll be able to find someone, maybe even someone competent, but if I were Trump's lawyers, I'd ask for payment up front.

Seriously, with Rudy screaming at rallies about trial by combat I can’t tell if Trump has some dirt on him or is his dealer.

If the anonymous sources are to be believed, Trump wants to continue to claim election fraud, while his lawyers wanted to mount a successful defense.

That's probably true. According to the sources in the article, Trump's lawyers were planning to simply assert that the trial is unconstitutional, like how 45 Republicans already voted.
Trump apparently wanted them to air his grievances, somehow justifying his putsch. I personally think that defense might actually lead to a conviction.

Re: Good King Trump
I look forward to republican’s protecting him so that he can run again, while he goes on to create the maga party to split republican and qanon votes, destroying the party’s chances because they wouldn’t hold him accountable.
Afterall, all Trump really wants to do is to hold rallies, collect donations and dip his fingers in the pot, this whole holding office thing really got in the way of the important things. If they allow him to be eligible to run again but don’t crush him in some other way, attached to the GOP will be a parasite that speaks loudly and collects lots of money but never manages to get it to the republicans.

Re: Good King Trump
Bitch McConnell will argue for a further delay to the start of the trial on account of this unexpected shortage of lawyers.
