Agreed, they stepped on their dicks then shot themselves in the foot on their dicks then stuck the foot in their mouths and shot it again.

Yeah, it was quite a spectacle. This will probably go down in PR handbooks as an example of how not to handle a controversial decision.

That'll show 'em! They will probably have to close all their offices and move the whole operation to Somalia.

LOL, there is a new video circulating calling Planned Parenthood liars because "THEY LIED! THEY DON'T EVEN GIVE MAMMOGRAMS!!" after calling a handful of PP offices and being told they don't do mammograms in those facilities.

Not that PP actually claims that they do the mammograms...

Haha, some white dude at the Weekly Standard wrote that exact very extremely stupid thing.

As Lila Rose's Live Action shows in this video, Planned Parenthood actually doesn't provide mammograms:
Of course, Richards never said that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms. She said that if funding is cut off, women will lose access to mammograms, which is, well, completely damn true.

Then, for some reason, he posts that Youtube video of a woman calling around to Planned Parenthood clinics and asking if they provide mammograms. And the video pretty much uniformly shows Planned Parenthood clinics saying no, and offering to provide referrals for mammograms. Like, the people who answer the phone will tell women where to go for mammograms. This is a very bad thing, apparently?

They do basic breast exams, they teach how to do self breast exams, they provide literature on the importance of self breast exams, they screen for high risk factors for breast cancer, and they will help find a low cost referral for mammograms if warranted.

Shit, most doctors don't suggest routine mammograms for younger women anyway unless they are high risk.

In the sense that they're part of planning to avoid untimely deaths in the family, yes.

It has for me as I hadn't realized how corporate and conservative they have become. Whether they fund PP again or not I'm certainly never giving them money when it could just go directly to the source (and actually make it there).

lol, I was about to poast that. PP will even provide medical care to gheys and transgender clients, it's like they just give people health care and education about sexual health without judging them or shaming them or anything!

From my local PP page:
Quote:

From the Salon article

Quote:
Planned Parenthood is, by now, well versed in how to handle outside attacks and negative publicity. Along the way, the organization has become pretty smooth at it. From the moment that first message about Komen appeared, Planned Parenthood remained relentless in keeping momentum going on the story, posting links to news coverage, retweeting supportive messages, and repeatedly reminding people how to donate to the cause across all of its social media platforms.

Komen, in contrast, could hardly have seemed more spectacularly blundering in all of it. As one commenter posted, “the last thing as unpopular on Facebook as this Komen thing was Michael Jackson’s death.” Not only did the organization clearly not even consider sending out its own preemptive, damage-controlling message, it waited more than a full day before responding to the outcry at all. And when it did, oof.
Quote:
Because while Komen was cautiously portioning out terse, defensive responses that smacked of “You should all be grateful for how much we do for you people,” Planned Parenthood and its supporters had been not just expressing their indignation but harnessing it, in ways that will both make you weep and make you laugh. Social media is all about connection. That’s why Planned Parenthood not only posted a letter from a supporter; it made it the organization’s newest petition. “When you go after Planned Parenthood and the people they serve,” it reads in part, “you go after ME.” Direct, personal and powerful.
Yep, feet on dicks in mouths being shot.

In my email from PP

Quote:
Over the last three days, Planned Parenthood Federation of America's Breast Health Fund has received more than $3 million from thousands of people across the country. Every dollar we received for this fund will go directly to breast exams and diagnostic services, as well as breast health outreach and education so that more women can receive this critical care.
I didn't even know they ran it as a separate fund. Also, note, no mention of mammograms.
