She's got the hard part of getting the financing. All I've got to do is deal with the contractors for repair bids on the house. Heating, cooling, water heater and new electrical load center.
|
Well, good luck with all of that, you two. Sounds like a heavy load, indeed.

Re: What's up with you?
My step-niece was so brainwashed, teenaged, and bitchy for a while she barely saw her dad because nobody could have her in the house, especially around the younger kids. Now, at 22ish, she realizes her mom created a lot of unnecessary problems and has a good relationship with her dad and step-mom and step siblings.
I just got to meet her this last year, and her dad has been with my sister in law for like 15 years.

So, 22ish seems to be the age of enlightenment, then. Well, we can only hope that the same holds true for his daughter. In the meantime, I'll center my attention on the people in my life that care about me as I care about them.

Our bid on the house was excepted. Now I have to find a housing inspector and trace down all the gremlins to get fixed.

Re: What's up with you?
I applied for a part-time job today. I have been working freelance for about 2 years and have been able to make ends meet, just about, and even been doing a bit better lately, but it is kinda getting to you not having any idea if you are going to make any money next month and if so how much. This job would mean I still got to work from home and set my own hours but I would get a contract for a year (plus they would loan me a laptop and a scanner). I don't think they have too many candidates because it wasn't in the paper or anything, I heard it from a friend who got it from a friend who works there.
So I hope this works out.

Re: What's up with you?
Scramble to restore power in Springfld. The idiots who did this are the same @#$% idiots who caused a major water main break in May. Haven't they ever heard of "Dig Safe"? Fucking morons.
I live in one of the 8,500+ homes without power. Getting a horrible night's sleep is one thing, now I'm worried that I'll lose my food.

Yuck, that's a massive suckage. I lost a whole fridge-n-freezer full of food last year thanks to Ike. Hopefully you'll get your power back a lot quicker than that.

Re: What's up with you?
Good luck to Watser? and to Shelli!
I get to see Joesixpack's boy for the first time since the incident (The Incident). He'd been asking about me, and seems under the impression I've been ill (somewhat true, I guess). I worry for the boy, as his mother is still crazy, but I am hoping to provide a stable place for him here on the weekends. He and Caligukid get along really really well, and we all four together are just pretty danged sweet. Some of the best times I have had in my entire life have been times when we've been all together.

Re: What's up with you?
Oldest daughter is getting married (second marriage) next Saturday. I went and got a haircut this morning. (First barbershop haircut in years; I've been doing it myself with a 5/8" cut forever. Now that my beard is pretty white, I'm gearing up for the Albert Einstein look, but Mrs. ShottleBop wanted my neck and ears cleaned up for the wedding.) Set up a couple of 10 X 12 shade structures afterwards. Now I'm kickin' back with a Natty Light. (Low carb.)

Re: What's up with you?
I seldom post...so I don't expect much response as most won't remember me. Now retired, doing some contract work to supplement my pension, and trying to figure out the next part of life. Not bad at all really.
I've had some interesting encounters with fundies lately...and being an ex one myself I feel I should have the upper hand, however some of the mind fucks they use still get to me. Anyway. Time to put stuff in writing then I can just hand them the book and they can respond in writing.
But those are few and far between. Most of my former christian friends have remained friends.
Also annoyed lately by financial advisors...and I need to write something on that too since most of my discussions end with people feeling bad.
Theme here is that perhaps I lack certain social or communication skills ...Yep. Guilty.
Anyway. Thats a little bit of what's up. Blue pill needed for anything else.

Good to hear from you, bobeh. I know you, but it wouldn't even matter if I didn't. Just let it all out there. Congrats on your retirement.
