When you keep having the same issue over and over with different people, you should consider that the problem might be with you. Take some time to consider what it is about you that invites unsolicited advice.
If you were to wake up earlier, eat a low-fat gluten free breakfast, comb your hair, dress more respectably, and wash your ass better, people would be less inclined to think you needed their guidance.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I DID listen to you, and my answer was completely responsive to what you were saying. You're just too fucking stupid to realize it.

I have been waiting 45 minutes for a report to run so I can go home. Well, the screen pops up and I am thinking yea it's done, not.....It gives me a damn error message.
I am going home.

Please don't cuss at me like that.
I swear my company's unwritten motto is: Never let operations get in the way of a meeting.
They have meetings about having meetings that are about meetings. Fuck ops, meetings are more important. Ops don't let someone show how important they are, meetings do.
Re: New And Improved Rant Thread, now with 50% more profanity!
Heh, my old college built it's main campus in the middle of nowhere. they did so for the express reason that it would cut down on the distractions for students living in the dorms. Fair enough. ...until they started building community campuses in all the residential areas throughout the reservation, thus giving students the opportunity to take classes without moving to the dorms on the main one. So, then of course the community campuses used primarily K-12 teachers on adjunct contracts. What did the faculty on the main campus do when their class loads shrunk from the contractual 5 per semester to 1 or 2, and sometimes 0?
They held MEETINGS!
The joined committees!
And the committees planned for more meetings and planned the creation of more committees with which to set up MORE MEETINGS!
The main campus was a veritable orgy of meetings. Actual teaching was reserved for the community campuses.

Re: New And Improved Rant Thread, now with 50% more profanity!
All employees at my workplace are required to take an updated online training session on "workplace violence". My assessment:
Well…I completed that and now I’m de-motivated more than ever before.
These things just lead to less and less credibility on the part of the institution, from my perspective.
From my readings, people who are shabbily treated by medical staff, or any staff, for that matter, and verbally express their anger and frustration are subject to stigmatization by the staff. I think somebody who has been permanently disabled or disfigured by misguided medical personnel has a right to express some anger and frustration. That the incompetents don’t want to hear about their bad work is tough.
Patients, employees, or anyone doing business with this place who believes this organization is not following its own rules and procedures are considered to be violence risks…and stigmatized by the staff. Even if they are correct, I assume. Even if they have plentiful evidence that the organization and its representatives do not follow their own rules and procedures….
These look like means to stigmatize and marginalize those who have even legitimate complaints about their care or treatment at this place. Past incidents have made it clear that this place engages in this reprehensible behavior. They did it with the media notable whose surgery was botched and they did it with the family whose child was permanently disabled. These guidelines look all to self-serving to be anything other than means to silence those who have cogent complaints.
(And…Whatever any patient does, they should NOT take ANY complaint to the “Patient Advocate” because that is a grossly egregious misnomer, as the “Patient Advocate” is nothing other than the front person for the Risk Management Team which works to protect the institution from legal suits. Get a lawyer…tout suite.)
Then…I note that all the following were also listed as “warning signs” of workplace violence,
- Inability to take constructive criticism,
- Disregard for the safety of others,
- Intimidation of others,
- And bullying or harassing,
Are all utilized by the institution and authoritative representatives of the institution. Is the institution, or those operating under the directives of the institution, who engage in these behaviors disciplined for this? No…They are promoted and provided with multi-thousand dollar bonuses. Or, they protect those amongst the status-blessed to continue to do so. That they do it with a calm demeanor or dulcet tones does not excuse it. These listed WARNING SIGNS seem to indicate to me that the biggest source of workplace violence are the authorities of the institution.
I have a locals I’d willingly recommend that they have the warning sign posted on their doors, but I get the impression that such is saved for patients and lowly classified employees. I have been repeatedly intimidated, bullied, and harassed for doing my job and every time I complain about it, it is played down because the perpetrator is somebody with some kind of ‘authority’. I’ve been undercut on at least three occasions where instances ‘workplace violence’ were directed at me….which leads me to believe this is just more empty talk, with follow-through ONLY where there will be no adverse reactions amongst the non-staff.
There seems to be a desire to whip the staff into some kind of frenzy over this. Workplace violence is not new. Workplace violence of which people show a real fear of is rare, and it comes usually from outside the institution. However, workplace hostility and the “violence” it spawns, comes largely from….get this: change. Or, more accurately, responses to change. (“Workplace Violence and Workplace Aggression: Evidence on Their Relative Frequency and Potential Causes” Aggressive Behavior 22 (3): 161-173, 1996)
So…Where is the reason for this fear mongering? It does not seem to be readily supported by the evidence. So, where is evidence-based administration?
This whole thing looks like scare tactics to lay groundwork for those who want to quickly and easily brand anyone who disagrees or expresses any kind of frustration with the dysfunction and arrogance of the status hierarchy at this institution.
Re: New And Improved Rant Thread, now with 50% more profanity!
Thank you so much slackers for failing the intellectual and cultural community. I spent freaking hours preparing to be Oscar Wilde for that panel discussion and neither Thomas Arnold nor Kipling had the decency to at least show up and take my tongue lashing.
So I was left trying to think of something to interject between Mick Collins and De Valera, or Chamberlin and Churchill, or freaking suffragettes, which was totally not what I fucking prepared or why I chose Wilde in the first place. Bravo! 90% of the material I prepared was fucking worthless because your worthless asses couldn't even come and sit there to take it. Fuck you! I needed that extra credit, I did my fucking work, and now I am probobly going to get shit for credit.
Re: New And Improved Rant Thread, now with 50% more profanity!
Speaking of credit, some doofus at our company left a company laptop in their car parked outside a bar in downtown Tulsa. A thief broke out a window and stole it. It contained personal information on all company employees, including address, phone numbers, salary, Social Security number, etc. The company is paying for a year of credit monitoring from Equifax and recommending getting our free annual credit reports from all three agencies. And suggesting we consider putting a fraud alert on our credit, and monitor out checking and savings accounts closely. As far as credit cards, they won't get far on ours, but our stupid banks will pay any fucking debit that comes in, we cannot stop them. Fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck. inland wave says there has been fraudulent activity on a coworkers bank account already. There is someone that better go into protective custody right now, and it's not the thief.
Re: New And Improved Rant Thread, now with 50% more profanity!
That blows, Dingfod. The same happened to me with my health insurance records, the credit monitoring didn't get any activity, but I was pissed they didn't include my son's information as part of the monitored activity.
