Re: What's up with you?
Good luck, ES. I never bothered with the VA loan. Instead, I'm milking my GI Bill for all its worth. I've got two years from this September to use it before the benefits run out. You did take the GI Bill, didn't you? Those who served at least 90 days after 9/11/01 get a whole lot more money than folks like me (who separated only 2 weeks after that day ... and one week before the stop-loss kicked in (w00t!)).

Re: What's up with you?
What's up with me is that I'm sick. I'm staying home because I don't want to get anyone else sick, and I'm worried that what I've got isn't just a cold. If I end up with swine flu, I can kiss the end of this semester goodbye because there's no way that I'll go to class with a potential vector for an epidemic in me. If it doesn't clear up by today, I'll go see a doctor tomorrow.

Re: What's up with you?
Buying a house has become one of my least favorite things to do. I'm trying for the third time since June. I put in a bid on a house on Monday.

Re: What's up with you?
I'm in the process of buying a house too. We just accepted an offer for a mortgage, so now it's just some more formalities before we can move in

Re: What's up with you?
I packed up my step-daughter's stuff last night and she'll be staying with her grandfather until her plane leaves this coming Saturday. She's decided that she doesn't need to have any respect for me, even in my own home; therefore, I've decided that she needs to leave my home and my husband backs me up on this. I absolutely will NOT be treated like a piece of in my own house.. no matter how bad it hurts.

I think you've made the right decision, and I'm glad to hear that your husband supports you in this.

I just mean that we had our reasons for not using the VA loan with our house (I don't recall what they were right now, but the wife used to sell real estate, so she knows more about that sort of thing than I do). I'm waiting on a big lump sum check from the GI Bill for the summer class I'm taking. In the fall, they should have things straight again and I should get my normal monthly checks again.

That must have been very difficult, Shelli. But it's bound to be for the best. Sometimes tolerating bad behavior is the same as enabling it.

So is she just a bitch or is she just a teenager or brainwashed by her mom or some combo?

Re: What's up with you?
Is dad going to his dad's, too? That way, at least he could spend some time with his daughter.

She's got the hard part of getting the financing. All I've got to do is deal with the contractors for repair bids on the house. Heating, cooling, water heater and new electrical load center.

As far as her being a bitch or not, I'm not sure on that one. Her mother's a hysterical, manipulative, drama bitch along with being a major hypochondriac, all of which even her son, now that he's almost 23 sees for himself. So, hey, there's a good chance that the daughter is going to catch some of that.
From what I'm told, 17 going on 18 is a tough age to deal with. They know it all. All adults are stupid. They don't have to listen to anyone. They're going to be anyway they like and screw you if you don't like it. I'll stick with my fur kids, tyvm.
As far as being brainwashed by her Mom, hell yeah, and that's been going on since we met when his daughter was 5 years old. So, yeah, she's had 13 years to convince her daughter that I suck donkey balls and much worse, I'm sure.

He won't be sleeping there, but yes, he'll be spending time there and out with her when he's gets out of work.
We had a similar situation with his son before they moved to . His son made it impossible to have him in the house or even anywhere near me at one point because he had gotten so vicious, even physically once. But of course his father still spent time with him, just not at the house and I didn't attend and I never begrudged him for the time he spent with him either. The same goes with this situation with his daughter. If they can't treat me like a human being deserving of respect, then they don't come to a home that is part mine, but I don't try to keep him from seeing his kids otherwise. In fact, I'd give him hell if he didn't.
As a side note, his son and I have and are still establishing a new relationship since he moved back to a couple of months ago. We're doing well, I'm happy to say, and I'm proud of him for coming so far.

Yeah, it sucked big time and neither my husband nor myself got much sleep last night. But, no, I won't be enabling her bad behavior or allowing myself to play the part of doormat.
