Solstice, December 21
This just in:
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Winter Solstice occurs on December 21, 2008 at 7:04 AM EST and 12:04 UT (Universal Time).
That's 3:04 AM PST.
I'm hoping that it brings y'all warmth and enlightenment.

Happy solstice.
This was the due date of my son, who came two months early.

I was born near the summer solstice, so we observe my "and a half" birthday this time of year.

Re: Solstice, December 21
No...about 7 more hours...it's 3:04 am Sunday for those of us on the left coast.
You're an hour ahead of us, so, 4:04 am Sunday is solstice there in Denver.

Re: Solstice, December 21
This is all fucked up.
If it's at 7:04 am in EST (basically, in the Boston-New York-Washington corridor), then it is 4:04 am Pacific Standard Time (the Vancouver-SF-LA corridor) at the same point in time.
That means it is 5:04 am in Denver (MST), which is two hours behind NY.
I think.
