Me too. I finally decided that I was not going to find anything useful on that forum, and made up my own shit. I must be doing something right, because my kid is great.
And even though he was vaccinated he does not have a blank dead look in his eyes!
Also, I have an ultra crunchy real life friend (though she, like most people, is full of contradictions) so I ask her when I have questions about natural living or whatever.

Does he ever play with his white tiger hand puppet?
PS My kid is great too even though she was bottle fed, public schooled, slept in her own bed and swatted on the ass occasionally.

He loves his puppet and calls it Kitty. He loves all his puppets and I have to daily "be" one of them. He carefully chooses so it's like "Mama, please be...hmmm...Kitty (or Monkey, or Bird)"
Oh and we co-sleep. We love it

I think I'm too selfish to co-sleep, it's enough that Widget is there
Give "kitty" a pet on the head from me

We have a bed roughly the size of Texas. Me, hubby, Kiddo, and the 130 lb dog all fit comfortably

"Have sex"? What is this you speak of? Oh, you mean what we used to do before having a kid?
Just kidding, though we have greatly reduced frequency and gotten creative as far as the where/when. We do not have sex with him in the same room even, though.
We have been married 17 years, 14 of them infertile and childless. We had plenty of just us time, and have sex all day time, and snuggle together on our huge bed time.
We figure he will be little for only a few years, and we will go back to all our couple time after that. We can't get back little bitty Kiddo time though, ya know?

Mumbles something about her 7 year old sleeping with her everynight...
Although we don't share a bed anymore, but thats mainly because of my arthritis, it just plain hurts to much. Actually my 9 year old son will quite often bring in his Flip chair into my room and sleep here too.
They are only kids for so long, and grow so damn fast its unbelievable. Why would I deny them this small comfort that they both so obviously need?

The vast majority of posters on that board have decided long before the babies come that this is what they are going to do. The kids don't need the comfort IMO, it's just the parents that want it that way from the start.

Yes I loved when HorseGirl was little and would come get in bed with me in the mornings to say Hi, hair all a mess carrying her sleepy puppy toy.

Obviously you would've induced lactation by nursing random children, possibly your husband.
You know, if you were a good mother.

Re: WTF smilies you see at other forums
I was going to say something about the Jewish discipline threads, but someone beat me to it.
In real life, I could probably ask any random mother here about anything and find the crunchiest of answers.
My friend the pediatrician and her friends talk about parents who announce they are "doing attachment parenting" as being some of the more messed up ones.
Boobier than thou, or mommier than thou.
I really don't have that much time to be that judgemental about other parents parenting skills.
I breast fed, co-slept, cloth diapered and fed mostly organically.
I also pumped, bottle fed, vaccinated, didn't vaccinate enough or on schedule, gave him too much sugar and will use a public school.
Sometimes I follow the Chinese proverb of a child being a little bit cold, a little bit hungry and a little bit tired as being good for the child.

Today's offering I think they need to get to a doctor and test for STDs

Here's the deal, i've never had an stinky crotch, and in all reality I don't.
and he doesn't either...that is until we have sex... and even then it's only if he ejaculates in me.
if he ejaculates on his own there's no odor prob if we have sex and he doesn't ejaculate were fine. but vaginal fluids+semen= wretched FUNK it's BAD BAD BAD
we've been together for 7 years and this been only been occuring for like back 1.5 years...and it's progressively getting worse.
I don't douche as i really don't think its good for vaginal health but DARN do I wanna lately.
the 2 days after i find myself washing my crotch over and over and over... eventually it goes away, but it does take some time.
and he'll wash himself off 2-3 times in the shower but the smell still clings and almost seems like it sinks into the skin because it just wont wash off...
this is sadly interfering with our sex lives... next day sex is unimaginable.... and oral sex within 3 days of intercourse is no more even if he's pulled out to spare me the horrid smell he still ends up with it
we laugh about it and make cheesy captain planet our powers combined jokes but it's really really really bothering us
anyone have any suggestions, comments, or have the same problem (just knowing were not total stinky freaks would be nice)

Re: WTF smilies you see at other forums
How can this one poster have so much shit going on? Makes me question the legitimacy, I guess.
She never complained about the smelling funk on the sheets she ruined while she was housesitting.
Unless these are different people, in which case.. nevermind.

Totally different people.
There are a lot of strange people there
They don't seem to like going to Doctors for some reason, maybe it's the $$, but it seems more of a mistrust somehow. There is a lady posting she thinks she is 5 or 6 months pregnant... she thinks. She feels the baby kicking so she cannot deny it, her husband thinks her round belly looks pregnant, but they have been spiritually disjointed for a year now and she does not know how it could be possible.
Hello!?! Go to Doctor, ya freak.

My uterus is expanding noticeably, I feel the baby kick on a regular basis, and I know deeply that there's no possible way now that I can't be pregnant.
[My Husband] is still stuck in his logical, rational mind. He didn't believe me at all until I was about 5 months along when I lifted up my shirt and showed him my round belly (I normally have a pretty flat belly). He said that it looks like I'm pregnant. Okay...case closed. Now can we start getting our relationship back on track and prepare for our daughter's arrival? In my delusional mind, yes. In reality, no way in hell.
Yesterday I started talking about all the signs I've received in regards to being pregnant...it was just a natural segway in the conversation. Immediately I felt a wall go up. He didn't want to listen to any of it. He was polite, as always, but I could tell he didn't believe any of it. I asked him about that and he said he doesn't want to make any assumptions. What?! Assumptions? Give me a break! He says he sees both the possibility of me being pregnant along with me not being pregnant...that they're pretty equal in his mind so he doesn't want to jump to any conclusions. Gee thanks. I was totally speechless. The baby is due in less than 3 months and he still has doubts that she even exists.
|
A bunch of normal posters told her to get to the doctor or midwife right away to confirm this pregnancy. She is resistant and annoyed at this because she does not need outside validation, she wants to rely on her intuition.

All the answers we need, all the "tools" that are required for life exist within us. Being UCers, aren't at least some of you aware of this?? So please, people, stop the theories about what's going on with me, stop trying to diagnose me like you're my doctor, stop trying to psychoanalyze me because it's a waste of energy. I didn't come here for that. I simply needed to get all of that off my chest and learn from it and possibly glean some wisdom from others, but now I see that that is pointless.

UC = Unassisted Childbirth
ETA: Reading her posts, she made me think of those desperate women that fake a pregnancy and steal a baby.

I guess the universe told her she is having a daughter, I thought that was an interesting statement.
Her son's name is Quantum

I dunno, I'd see a doctor If I had a smelly crotch thing going on for over a year. Especially if the smell hung around for days at a time.

Last year a lady swore she was pregnant, based on all kinds of weird shit from the Universe or something, for like 13 months. Can't remember if it was a blog or on that site though.
