Re: Star Trek XI
um, could someone please catch me up here?
Is the plot really going to be about Kirk and Spock meeting as cadets at Starfleet Academy?
If so, I'm not exactly jumping up and down with excitement.
I was kinda hoping that (yes, I know it's a wild idea) they might go into space in a starship?

SEVEN!
I don't know if it's supposed to take place during Academy time or Young Cadets time. I do hope it takes place out in space. It is a theme for the feature films to take place on or around Earth. Insurrection was the first one that didn't.

This is just my conjecture, mind you, but I thought Insurrection might have taken place planetside because Industrial Light and Magic wasn't available to do the special effects. The CGI effects they used to show space and the Enterprise exterior instead looked really odd in comparison to me; very distracting.
YES! I want there to be a space mission of some kind. If they'll just do that, maybe the cadet thing will be okay.

Okay, they're hot, but how well can they act? Are they just trying to get more females in the theater?

You made me try to decipher a totally pointless set of capitals. "Sad Trek Gear Pink Star Kirk" mixed in with gibberish means nothing to me.

Kirk will wake up in bed next to Spock and realize it was all a dream. Spock will roll over and it will actually be Leonard Nimoy saying "Bob, go back to sleep."

Been that way in Hollyweird for nigh on a decade. I'm so sick of that permastubble crap. Doesn't it make these young'uns break out in zits something fierce? It sure would for me, but that might be because I don't have a dermatologist on retainer the way these brats must have.
Oh, uh, yeah, hope the new Trek's in space. Or something. There.

Amanda was also portrayed in the animated episode "Yesteryear," where she was voiced by Majel Barrett (it is in that episode where the last name "Grayson" was established).
|
Damn, that Majel really knew how to work the casting couch. Or maybe she just kept Gene feeling perpetually guilty for shanking on the whole original Number One gig.

Re: Star Trek XI
I hate to be a nay-sayer but I'm not getting my hopes up for this. I like JJ's work, generally speaking. I was a big fan of Alias, not so much Lost and Mission: Impossible 3 was okay. I'm just not sure about the "prequel" nature of it. But I do like that Zachary Quinto is the young(er) Spock. I thought that was good casting.

It helps to be married to the boss. Not that she isn't IMMENSELY talented all in her own right.

I've always loved Winona Ryder, too. She might've even topped my list once upon a time, like before Natalie was born.

I need no comforting if that is the case
Although his quote above does ever-so-slightly hint that once Natalie was born she knocked off number one

The franchise needs to die.
It has become worse than Star Bores.
