Re: Miscellany
I just now typed "wiki ernie kovacks" into my address bar, and it took me to a year-old thread about impeaching Bush on a forum for deaf people.
Usually, I can at least a little bit figure out how things might have happened, but not this time. There's no mention in the thread of Ernie Kovacks or Wikipedia.
MY INTERNETS MAYBE THEY ARE HAUNTED.
ETA: I know I spelled his name wrong, but that still do not 'splain.

Ya. But. (I had put in a edit to that effect, but I am being slow because I am supposed to be working, and the posting and the looking up shit about Ernie Kovacs is, um, because I don't feel like working.)

Re: Miscellany
I know what you mean. I searched jim mortison doors and the top hit was about the 1876 Brooklyn theatre fire. Weird, huh?

Re: Miscellany
You never know what can change in nine minutes in the fast moving world of the intarwebs. Surely you're not under the impression that the intarwebs are some sort of sluggish truck that is the same from minute to minute?

Re: Miscellany
Adam makes a good point, Clutch.
The internets are much more like a large, fast-moving truck in front of you on the highway spewing gravel from beneath a loosely fitted tarp, absolved only by the black and yellow sign reading, "Stay back 200 feet. Not responsible for windshield damage."
A lot of things can happen in nine minutes. A lot of things.
Speaking of the internets:
Which is better? BeOS or Daryl Gates' Police Quest: Open Season?
Hurry! This might be an important work-related question!

- It is a good thing I'm so fucking cute, because I am all kinds of stupid.
- I have only recent started getting the store-boughten haircuts again. How often are you supposed to get those? Mine is growing more than an inch a month in places. I might have to go back to just chopping off whatever parts that bother me.
- I'm going to keep asking until someone tells me which is better: BeOS or Daryl Gates' Police Quest: Open Season? It's IMPORTANT.

Re: Miscellany
One of the persistent mysteries in my life is my mom's criteria for choosing a parking spot. She drives around, passing several or even dozens of perfectly acceptable spots, looking for some ideal that only she recognizes. If you ask her "What the hell are you looking for?" she just says "the right one".

LadyShea. Sounds like my wife at Walmart. I'm like...JUST park the fuckin' car already! What's the big deal over having to walk an extra hundred steps or so!

Well it would be one thing if she was looking for the closest spot, but that doesn't seem to be a consideration necessarily.
Like yesterday, we knew we needed a cart to put the baby in to go to Old Tyme Pottery (acres and acres of cheap ass home decor), so I would have parked closest to the cart corral had I been driving...but she passes three of them and goes up another aisle and all the way to the end for no fucking reason then had to walk all the way over to the cart corral to bring one back.
I just don't get it.

Re: Miscellany
No this is much more sinister than intentional fucking with (which is appreciated in my family and therefore wouldn't be annoying) she does it all the time and always has...it's some weird quirk or compulsion of hers. If she would clue us in to her list of the characteristics of the right parking spot, we could help her find it, ya know?

Re: Miscellany
Wow!
You have one cool family! I'm impressed and a tad jealous I might add.
Perhaps it's an obsessive/compulsive behavior she's displaying?

I DID NOT GET A BOWL CUT. I think they always give me, like, some kind of soccer mom haircut or whatever. I don't know. One time, some lady tried to make me get highlights, even, is how I am pretty sure about that soccer mom thing.
Anyways, me and the LM go and we both get haircuts together just now. (Also his hair grows too fast, which is my fault.)
So I finish first and pay and stuff, then out in the parking lot, LM is all like, "GAR! They thought you were my girlfriend!"
OH MY GOD THE LITTLE MUFFIN IS SO OWNED.

Hmmm. What about, like, vehicle height or something? Parking next to really big trucks and SUVs can fuck you up pretty hard when you try to get back out later.
I know I sometimes have different criteria for stuff, but I can't really articulate what they are so good without thinking about it.

I have never been able to discern a pattern, hence its status as a long-time mystery. Doesn't mean there isn't a pattern, only that it's so unique to her that I can't see it.

I am sure I do too, but the parking thing is so damned noticeable to everyone. My Dad, my brother, and I have all noted it and asked her about it.
Anyway, I am not sure why you of all people are defending her. Do you want her as your new mom or something? 'cuz I don't want to trade moms on accounta I don't like lemons or need any lids.

Re: Miscellany
Okay my phone just rang, and I only use it for work so it's usually my system telling me I got a work call and I can take the call or send it to voicemail or whatever.
So I pick it up and it's not my friendly system voice saying "You have a call", it's some guy praying like super, duper fast...like an auctioneer...I mean it took me a few seconds to hear that there were words like "Jesus Christ" in there and not just someone babbling incoherently.
WTF?
