Re: Countdown from one million thread
989,822 I dunno about motorcycles (I learned to drive my ex's, but didn't really spend a lot of time on it), but I can definitely smell the air when the top's off the Jeep. Perhaps motorcycles generate more funk than Jeeps. though.

989,822 That's a valid question. My bike is a Honda, and it's got all stock pipes, carb, etc., so there is really no funk. Actually, the smell I remember is the flowers, and the bike is so quiet I could hear the birds.

989,820 yeah, it really only rumbles when you accelerate, but when cruising in top gear, it's hums right along.

Re: Countdown from one million thread
989,817 Watched movies today during the drizzle today. That parkway looks absolutely breathtaking, Kev. Phew what a place!
Heard tonight they want to put the Nazcar race track in our county. Blech! Talk about exhaust! Oh and the noise, too, can't forget about the noise. Of course it will be about 45 minutes away. But it would make more sense to put it on the mainland where more people are. Like right in the middle of the SeaTac airport's flight path; perfect.

Re: Countdown from one million thread
Morning, Legs. This morning it's "Hey-let's-start-work-on-the-neighbor's-roof" day. It must be fun cause they got an early start. 7:15 to be exact. So much for my holiday
(I live in a duplex, the neighbor is on the other sid of the wall, and they've now taken to walking on my roof. Bastards.)

989,813 Kev, I didn't know there was such a thing as an unstinky and quiet motorcycle. It sounds absolutely idyllic.
Mornin' all.

I can sympathize, Plant Woman. I grew up near Bristol, which is the Mecca of Nascar. Two weekends a year, 140,000+ rednecks (most of them drunk), descend on our little town and proceed to reek havoc.
Sorry about your holiday annoyance, minus. I think this calls for another day off work tomorrow, to make up for today.

989,810 Lees, that's a great pic! I can totally see the 'poles, and it's downright freaky how many of them are all crowded together.

Re: Countdown from one million thread
989,809 yeah liv, I know what your talking about. Most motorcycles are pretty clean and quiet when they are originally purchased from the dealer. The problem is that so many people remove the mufflers, add pipes that blast the noise, mess with the fuel mixture, etc., and that's what causes the noise/smell issues. If you notice the older guys, who ride Goldwings, they have the largest motorcycle engine on the market and they're extrememly smooth and quiet.

Re: Countdown from one million thread
My bike's in original as-supplied-by-the dealer condition, and is fairly quiet at normal speeds. I don't think it smells either. I have owned stinky motorcycles in the past, but they were two-stroke (two-cycle) engines that have their own particular aroma; personally, I loved it, also the smell of castor oil from the old racing four-strokes, but I accept that they're not everyones bed of roses.
The engine seems a bit lumpy on tick-over after yesterday's blast. I shall have to balance the carburettors.

Re: Countdown from one million thread
998,806 Hey cep, do people in the UK modify their bikes like they do over here? I remember you said you had to have your's inspected, and most states over here don't require it for motorcycles (and many states don't for cars). It seems, especially in the cruiser class, that people over here consider the purchase of open pipes, rejet kids, and high performance filters to be a very high priority. I don't think it's legal to do the pipe mods, especially remove the mufflers, but it's doesn't seem to be enforced at all.

998,805 I'm not ignoring you, Kev but being a girl can't answer about the motorbike stuff.
cep, bet you didn't do any riding today.
It's not the camera, Legs, I can just use the software better. Lucky I don't work in IT, eh?
