I think they are cheaper, and better in some ways. frinstance, the platform supports wma files. windows media audio or some such shit, which are iianacd* smaller than mp3s of comparable quality.

I didn't know what a Creative was either, but I know Creative as the standard for soundcards during the years I was in the computer business. Here's a list of all the players they offer. This is cool. I've just recently been thinking about maybe saving up for an Mp3 player and when I found out how proprietary Ipods are I wondered what good alternatives there were out there.

Creative were in the market first, and even have some patent lawsuits against Apple, although I think the grounds are a bit shaky.
