Re: History geekodrome
I have a copy of "Forgings" from November 1945. This was an industry/propaganda/marketing magazine from Kropp Forge Co. In this issue, there was a human interest story about two generations of Draegels(Dragels) that were working at the company. These people were relatives of my maternal grandmother. They were proud of their contributions to the war effort during WWII, which is the only reason why I have this copy.
Here's a PDF of the magazine on Dropbox.
Looking it up, Kropp Forge struggled in the 70s and 80s, had some improved business in the 90s, but closed its operations in 2022 after a merger with another manufacturing company. I don't know how long my relatives worked there, although I presume Mike Sr. retired from there, considering his age from the article.
The magazine isn't in good condition, and I'm struggling to see the value in keeping the paper copy now that I've scanned it. I can't think it's worth much, and my family isn't that big on history — or keeping in touch with each other for that matter, I have no contact information for this side of the family.
I may post a few other oddments like this, if I think they're of general interest.

That really fuckin' sucks.
When they first lit MTV, it was pretty much the coolest shit on Cable.
I new a number of people that only signed up for Cable to get MTV.
Yeah, we were a pretty shallow bunch, sometimes. But, Hey! it was the 80s, Man.

Re: History geekodrome
I suspect this photo was taken in August, 1940, because I think this is a photo of the other people who got married on the same day as my maternal grandparents. I have no idea who these people are, I don't recognize any as a relative, but it appears to be the same location and photographer as my grandparent's wedding photos.

Although it may be the people who got married on the same day as my great aunt (around the same time). It's interesting, but I think this is going to be discarded as well.

Grooms and Bride's Maids, perhaps?
One of my nephews just put on the Dog for his son's wedding last week, and the Photogs were arranging similar shots as that, among others. Next century, some young folks might be puzzling over THOSE pics, as well.
But, then if no one knows who any of them were, it matters little. Pics don't matter much if no one knows why they are looking at them.

Re: History geekodrome
I ran across a thing on Netfix tonight.
Hitler and the Nazis - A film series based on William Shirer's books on the Rise and fall of the Nazi Party.
It starts in Nuremberg, during the hearings in '45.
It looks pretty interesting, if you're not completely bored to death of Nazi shit.

Re: History geekodrome
Nuremberg is what happens if you don’t punch enough Nazis and are forced into the shooting Nazis stage.

Next in Prehistory Geekodrome:
Stonehenge megalith came from Scotland, not Wales, ‘jaw-dropping’ study finds | Stonehenge | The Guardian

Monument’s largest ‘bluestone’ moved more than 450 miles – a discovery researchers say rewrites relationships between Neolithic populations

My guess is it wasn't moved in one go but was used in a stone circle near its origin, where it gained significance and was then important enough to move further.
But I was not consulted by the researchers mentioned.
