Many old threads, like this one, no longer have any of the images showing. Which makes this post quite fitting to end the thread

So, do you wander graveyards at night, digging people up to make sure that they are dead?

Apparently both the these faces are the same color.

I thought it would be amusing to break it apart, the top is the original, the second has the hair and background copied from the left to the right, the third has only the inverted contour lines copied over from the left to the right, and finally the fourth has the hair, background and inverted contour lines copied from left to right.

To double post because while the inverted contour lines seem to be doing a lot of heavy lifting, that doesn't actually explain it.

Both the white and black faces 'exist' but in different parts of the data. Here I've constrained the top image from 0-128 and the bottom image from 128-256, and it's easy to see that when unconstrained the brightest value on the left is around 128 and on the right the darkest value is also around 128.

Wait, so are the eyes the same? Other than the contour lines, are the whites and the blues of the eyes unchanged? Or just the blues? Either way, yes the contour lines are doing a lot of the work.

Supposedly these lines area all straight even though it appears like there a bulge in the middle.

I would describe it as "all the cells are the same size, but the central ones look bigger."

Curiously, I don't see the illusion in the thumbnail, only in the full-size picture.
