Default Re: X

Musk has flat out stated he is creating an "everything app" like wechat, and acquiring Twitter was the start of it. It's no mystery, unless you are an idiot or infected with the woke mind virus.

WeChat - Wikipedia

I thought the money/payment part was going to be the big profit center. But now, with text, audio and video chat, phone calls through the app, using Starlink, meaning you can have the same phone service anywhere on the planet. I'm thinking the communication part is going to be the big money maker.

It's not just that you can call or video chat with anyone, anywhere.

Anyone, literally, will be able to broadcast live video/audio, from anywhere on the planet, to anyone else, anywhere on the planet. Or to everyone on the planet. Using X

That's beyond a revolution. Because it can bypass the censors, the governments and media, who have always got away with shit, by being able to prevent exactly that.

One of the most surreal things is that, a lot of the time, when people say "oh, but Twitter was basically just an arm of the US government, it just did what the feds told it to, which is why it was so biased against conservatives", they're mostly talking about things that Twitter did when the head of the US government, and the person in charge of all the executive-branch stuff like the FBI, was... Donald Trump.

So, time for an analogy! If you made a law that banned the use of anything containing alcohol or gluten in religious ceremonies, someone might argue that you were probably trying to target Christians, especially Catholics. That's because there's no obvious reason for the policy, and it specifically targets a thing that only a couple of groups do.

On the other hand, if you make a law against murdering people, it's pretty clear that this law isn't specifically targeted at a given demographic, it's just that actually murdering is causing a problem.

There's actually pretty good reasons to propose policies like "you shouldn't try to instigate murders" or "you shouldn't make false claims about when the election is in the hopes of tricking people into not voting". And those policies are not particularly targeting specific political views. But! It is possible that, if you make those policies, you'll find that they affect people whose political views include "you should call for violence against people you are opposed to" or "it is good to use trickery to try to prevent people from voting", and if those views are more common in one faction than another, members of that faction may think "we are being discriminated against". And may not realize that, once someone knows what the actual policy is, and figures out why it's affecting the group complaining more than other groups, the conclusion they might reach is "actually these guys are just assholes".

The funny thing with Musk's X is that even if he could gather the infrastructure and engineers to make his dream possible, he's already poisoned the well. After he's grabbed accounts, banned accounts, unbanned accounts, cut off service, started charging for other parts, etc. It's clear everything on X is Musk's first and the user's second. Only idiots or greedy insecure fanboys are going to be willing to give their information and bank accounts over to such a man.

X really seems like it's heading towards some sort of 'social credits' system just like the CCP, only it's Musk and his fan boys that hand out the social credits so it's acceptable.

Here's a great example of X under Musk, dare do research into twitter the Master doesn't like, get your account banned, this sure does make me want to connect banking and messaging to X, I'm sure The Master wouldn't search my messages for anti-Musk sentiment, or see if I'm purchasing from competitors.

WiredIn 2022, he received a grant from the Open Knowledge Foundation, a nonprofit, to build software that would enable him to trace the history of accounts engaging in disinformation and hate speech. That tool, which focused on the company then known as Twitter, enabled him to identify which social media accounts posting about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had a history of posting spam. But it also meant he could identify, almost in real time, which previously banned accounts were being reinstated on X, he says.

“After Musk took over, you did see a very strong turn toward the far right, in terms of which accounts were being amplified, which accounts were building followings more quickly,” he claims.

Brown received no warning before his account was initially banned in July, the developer says. He says his account was restored in September, after a court order. But later that same month, Twitter informed Brown that his account would be banned again, with X justifying its decision to the court in a 36-page letter. X argued that Brown was using the platform’s data in a way that violated its terms of service. A similar argument was used in the case against the CCDH. X’s terms of service were updated in September 2023 to prohibit crawling or scraping in any form.

That's what you are upset about? That Brown got the boot?

I think I would find that much more exciting if Elon hadn't entirely stopped fighting authoritarian regimes. Twitter used to stand up to governments and go to court to protect users, but not anymore. Especially not against the Sauds, who funded the acquisition. Weird, that.

Why do you believe he stopped fighting? I mean, I don't know if that is true, but why do you think it is?

Musk was on Joe Rogan, it went, about as you would expect. I'm convinced that Rogan sees his listeners as idiot marks who lap up his minimal effort, but the question is, is Musk similar or is he one of those idiots himself?

RoganJoe Rogan: "Like 80% of the people they put on ventilators died."

Elon Musk: "This is what actually damaged the lungs, not Covid. The cure is worse than the disease."

That's up there with, 'water is actually bad for you because everyone that drinks water dies.' Yahoo news had the helpful reminder that Musk promised super ventilators but never delivered.

This is either an idiot, or a man who courts idiots.

FTGrok, the new AI system, has “real time access” to information from X, the social media platform Musk bought for $44bn a year ago, he said in a post on Saturday night, giving it a “massive advantage over other models” that have largely relied on older archives of internet data.
Elon Musk releases new AI chatbot ‘Grok’ in bid to take on ChatGPT

So 'grok' (Is everything about him desperate to be cool with geeks 20 years ago?) is easily poisonable by grok and those that know they are being scraped by grok. I wonder how long till it starts having anti-semetic, right-wing hallucinations, if those aren't already built in.

This sounds a bit like bragging that soon, because of Tesla, anyone, literally, who has a Tesla and electricity, will be able to drive from any paved surface to any other connected and unimpeded paved surface.

Between Grok and the advanced search feature, X is becoming better than Google for searching. It also has far less censorship, and fewer paid ads cluttering up the search results.

It's almost like the internet was supposed to be back in the year 2000, Text, documents, audio, video and data, uncensored, all in one place. With various means to communicate one on one, and to broadcast. And searchable.

Default Re: X

So the fuckjobs that support Hamas are claiming Elon is antisemitic and a Nazi supporter.

Why would they do that?

Quote:
Media Matters apparently manipulated X’s algorithms to cook up the desired guilt by association.

According to X’s investigation, the scheme worked like this: First, the tax-exempt left-wing attack dog created an account to follow exclusively “fringe” X users on the one hand and X’s biggest paid advertisers — major corporations like Apple, Comcast and IBM — on the other.

Media Matters’ cheers for suppressing Post reporting shows ‘watchdog’ is just a pack of Democratic operatives

Then the nonprofit scrolled and refreshed the inauthentic accounts’ feed at rates generating 13 to 15 times more ads per hour than would be seen by the average authentic Xer, until it could get pairings of pernicious content next to paid ads.

In a single instance, per X, one of the platform’s 500 million users other than Media Matters saw a pairing Media Matters produced. In most cases, the fake Media Matters account was the only one in the world to render a poisonous pairing. Publications have failed to replicate its results.

Having engineered the odious outcomes, Media Matters then publicized them as part of a “strategy to drive advertisers from the platform and destroy X Corp.,” the lawsuit says.

The gambit worked — a gambit, it’s worth noting, that emanates from the left, which has proven overwhelmingly sympathetic to the Nazis of Hamas and hostile to its would-be Jewish vanquishers in Israel.

After Media Matters circulated its contrived “findings” on its website, X says, every company featured in the report but Oracle — including Apple, Comcast, IBM and NBCUniversal — pulled its ads from the platform.

Media Matters is not alone in pressuring major corporations into pulling advertising from websites it dislikes.

There is a cottage industry in “brand safety,” something of a protection racket whereby corporations, and/or their ad agencies, pay third parties to tell them where not to advertise so they can avoid the wrath of leftist activists.
Elon Musk exposes Media Matters as an ideological shakedown operation

Ah, the commies and fascists are really about preventing free speech. Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
