According to court documents, around Jan. 5, 2021, Chad Christopher Stark, 55, of Leander, posted a message to Craigslist entitled, “Georgia Patriots it’s time to kill [Official A] the Chinese agent - $10,000.” The message included the following: “It’s time to invoke our Second Amendment right it’s time to put a bullet in the treasonous Chinese [Official A]. Then we work our way down to [Official B] the local and federal corrupt judges. It’s our duty as American Patriots to put an end to the lives of these traitors and take back our country by force. . . . If we want our country back we have to exterminate these people. One good loyal Patriot deer hunter in camo and a rifle can send a very clear message to these corrupt governors.. milita up Georgia it’s time to spill blood…. we need to pay a visit to [Official C] and her family as well and put a bullet her behind the ears. Remember one thing local law enforcement the key word being local….. we will find you oathbreakers and we’re going to pay your family to visit your mom your dad your brothers and sisters your children your wife… we’re going to make examples of traitors to our country… death to you and all you communist friends.”

In case you think that's fake, and to give some context.
Quote:
2. To be able forcefully and threateningly to oppose this party, whose betrayal of the workers will begin with the very first hour of victory, the workers must be armed and organized. The whole proletariat must be armed at once with muskets, rifles, cannon and ammunition, and the revival of the old-style citizens’ militia, directed against the workers, must be opposed. Where the formation of this militia cannot be prevented, the workers must try to organize themselves independently as a proletarian guard, with elected leaders and with their own elected general staff; they must try to place themselves not under the orders of the state authority but of the revolutionary local councils set up by the workers. Where the workers are employed by the state, they must arm and organize themselves into special corps with elected leaders, or as a part of the proletarian guard. Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary. The destruction of the bourgeois democrats’ influence over the workers, and the enforcement of conditions which will compromise the rule of bourgeois democracy, which is for the moment inevitable, and make it as difficult as possible – these are the main points which the proletariat and therefore the League must keep in mind during and after the approaching uprising.
I don't know why you would pose that I might think that was fake, as it very conveniently proved my point. (I had intended on posting that quote in my post but, I was interrupted by someone passing the joint my way,..., well, you get the idea. )
I presume you grok "the Party is not the People." (It might have been back in Marx and Engels' day, but Lenin and Mao kinda fixed that. )

I do sometimes wonder if it’s because it was the new high tech weapon for soldiers when they were kids given the AR-15 was adopted by the military 55 years ago, making it the weapon every 65-70 year old saw in combat as a teenager.
I heard/read/something'd that it's because it's simply inexpensive. That lead to it being highly modular and ubiquitous which leads to lots of parts and such as well as ease of personalization and simplicity for garage builders to make them.
From my understanding based on the youtubes one of the main design goals of the Ar-15 was to reduce/concentrate all the pressure and load baring parts so that everything else can be made out of lightweight inexpensive polymers.
Separating the components that needed to be forged and milled from everything else means everything not containing pressure can be made to less strenuous standards or better yet out of fancy lightweight metals like aircraft grade aluminum or titanium.
It’s a bit like the 3d printed guns where the instructions start with finding a metal tube, steel springs and a forged steel breach block, and then you’re ready to print a gun.
Thread sent me off on a tangent... the standard issue rifle when I was in the Army was the M16/A2, but apparently it became the M4 in the 2000's. Now it's going to be something called the X5 for unclear reasons, and will only cost $4.5 billion and take 10 yrs to adopt.
"The new rifles will be paired with the XM157 Fire Control system, which will increase accuracy and lethality for the close-combat force. The XM157 integrates, among other things, a variable magnification optic, backup etched reticle, laser range finder, ballistic calculator, atmospheric sensor suite, compass, visible and infrared aiming lasers, and a digital display overlay. "
And the beat goes on.

The amusing thing is how outdated a gun is against a modern government/military.

The proletarians need this knowledge not to shoot your brothers, the workers of other countries, as is being done in the present war, and as the traitors to socialism are telling you to do. They need it to fight the bourgeoisie of their own country, to put an end to exploitation, poverty and war, and not by pious wishes, but by defeating and disarming the bourgeoisie.”

Oh you know why…
Capitalistic reason number one, the military cartridge is a tri-metal construction designed to hold significantly more pressure allowing for higher power, flatter shooting projectiles, it’s also proprietary and made for these weapons only allowing for a pretty monopolistic control over the price and manufacture of the military cartridge (which isn’t available to civilians).
Capitalistic reason number two, every weapon comes with a suppressor to reduce the noise level down to the point where poorly made or over rated ear protection will work and fewer vets will come away deaf and/or suing over their hearing loss. 3M faces more legal headaches after $6 billion earplug settlement | CNBC
Also you’ve traveled back to the 90s and X’s are cool again.
America is a video game.
An escaped inmate was able to arm himself by stealing a loaded rifle with scope and light that was just sitting next to a door, the owner shot at him but failed to hit him. It turns out having weapons sitting around everywhere just means good loot RNG.
Here's the extra moron part: Dude has been escaped and on the run for more than a week now.
They caught him.
Did the good guys have guns?

This is the point where we say they’re a bunch of libtards for thinking the Ar-15 is an automatic rifle, and if they knew anything at all about firearms they should know no US citizen can freely own an automatic weapon without tax and registration. (That’s apparently A-OK and I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact it makes many automatic weapons worth more than a car).
But that doesn’t really matter because it’s all disingenuous bad faith nonsense from people who fantasize about war from their living room.
