Sure we’ve managed to selectively breed all sorts of things, but selective breeding to match some human desired traits and an attempt to ‘better’ the species are quite a bit different.

I follow a Fox rescue on facebook that occasionally takes in foxes from closed or overfull fur farms. It’s an interesting education in genetic disorders, as human selective breeding has managed to fuck up fur farm foxes. One fox has gums that consistently grow up and over his teeth, requiring gum trimming (apparently not as painful as it sounds) every so often. Why does this happen, well because his lineage also has hyper growing fur giving them extra fluffy coats ideal for fur farming.

Besides, the modern research is pointing towards dogs domesticating themselves and similar to cats, it might be a trick of our own hubris to think that we wrestled control from nature and created ‘man’s best friend’ when in reality the dog, seeing how useful this human creature was, inserted itself into useful places and the humans agreed.

Then we get to the eugenics of dogs, the breeds, which are mostly a result of early excitement over selective breeding and made up. In an attempt to keep these fabricated breeds around humans have since given at least a few some serious neurosis and disorders.

Ahmaud Arbery was jogging.

But to be young and Black and male in a Georgia suburb on a Sunday afternoon is to be a threat. A call to 911 claimed a Black man was walking around an unfinished house under construction.

“And you said someone’s breaking into it right now?” the dispatcher asked.

“No,” the man replied, “it’s all open. It’s under construction.“

This was just after 1 p.m. on Feb. 23, almost eight years to the day after Trayvon Martin was murdered by a vigilante.

Another 911 call came in minutes later from the same neighborhood to report, “There’s a black male running down the street.”

Arbery was unarmed. He didn’t have so much as a backpack.

Yet retired district attorney investigator Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis McMichael, 34, armed with a shotgun and a pistol, hopped in a pickup truck and chased after Arbery. They sped ahead of him, parked in the street, and cut him off.

He tried to avoid them. Until he couldn’t.

Gregory, standing in the bed of the truck, pistol ready, hollers at Arbery. Travis stands outside of the truck with a shotgun.

It’s very clear: The McMichaels are the threat here.

Arbery runs around the truck blocking the road, in an effort to escape. Travis awaits him. A shot is fired. Boom. Unarmed, Arbery tussles with him, desperately fighting for his life. Two more shots are fired. Boom. Boom. Arbery tries to fight. He tries, again, to run. He takes about seven short, stuttered strides. He wants to live. But he falls to his death. Arbery was murdered.

I watched the video a few times yesterday, it is sort of anticlimatic compared to Hollywood cinematic violence with garbage camera work, the guy who took the video was apparently also armed and with the father and son murderous duo according to some reports, so he would be part of the racist ass posse. It's horrific because you know he dies, smh.

There have been two prosecutors who recused themselves, the second one did it after initially declining to prosecute.

Mr. Barnhill also wrote that he did not believe there was evidence of a crime, noting that Gregory McMichael and his son had been legally carrying their weapons under Georgia law. And because Mr. Arbery was a “burglary suspect,” the pursuers, who had “solid firsthand probable cause,” were justified in chasing him under the state’s citizen’s arrest law.

In a separate document, Mr. Barnhill stated that video exists of Mr. Arbery “burglarizing a home immediately preceding the chase and confrontation.” In the letter to the police, he cites a separate video of the shooting filmed by a third pursuer.

Mr. Barnhill said this video, which has not been made public, shows Mr. Arbery attacking Travis McMichael after he and his father pulled up to him in their truck.

The video shows Mr. Arbery trying to grab the shotgun from Travis McMichael’s hands, Mr. Barnhill wrote. And that, he argued, amounts to self-defense under Georgia law. Travis McMichael, Mr. Barnhill concluded, “was allowed to use deadly force to protect himself.”

He noted that it was possible that Mr. Arbery had caused the gun to go off by pulling on it, and pointed to Mr. Arbery’s “mental health records” and prior convictions, which, he said, “help explain his apparent aggressive nature and his possible thought pattern to attack an armed man.”

After Mr. Barnhill recused himself, the case was assigned to Tom Durden, in the city of Hinesville, Ga., who must now decide whether to present the case to a grand jury for possible indictments. In an interview last week, Mr. Durden said his team had begun reviewing the evidence. “We don’t know anything about the case,” he said. “We don’t have any preconceived idea about it.”

The police report is based almost solely upon the responding officer’s interview with Gregory McMichael, who had worked at the police department from 1982 to 1989. The responding officer describes him as a witness. According to the report, Mr. McMichael told the officer that he and his son pulled up near Mr. Arbery, that his son got out of the truck with the shotgun, and that his son and Mr. Arbery then fought over the weapon, “at which point Travis fired a shot and then a second later there was a second shot.”

Michael J. Moore, an Atlanta lawyer who formerly served as a U.S. attorney in Georgia, reviewed Mr. Barnhill’s letter to the Glynn County Police Department, as well as the initial police report, at the request of The Times. In an email, Mr. Moore called Mr. Barnhill’s opinion “flawed.”

I lived in Brunswick for years in my early 20s, it was very segregated place. Rich people live on St Simon's island which is neighboring. St Simons is 4 percent black, Brunswick is 60. It was fucked up and racist.

The McMichael men and others were fed up with burglaries and auto break-ins by the time that fateful February afternoon unfolded, the police report indicated. The senior McMichael told police the surveillance video in the neighborhood had earlier captured Arbery in suspicious circumstances. McMichael told police they saw Arbery “the other night” and that he reached in his pants, as if readying to draw a gun, the report said

Note this horseshit that the cops bought apparently. another time they saw Arbery reach into his pants so they thought he might be armed the day they lynched him.

Make no mistake this was an almost textbook lynching in spite of not being a hanging. They murdered him because they thought he was guilty of some transgression.

Arbery was arrested in December of 2012 by Glynn County Schools Police for bringing a handgun into the Brunswick High gymnasium during a basketball game. When an officer spotted the .380 caliber handgun in his waistband, the then 19-year-old Arbery attempted to flee.

Arbery was sentenced to five years’ probation as a first offender on charges of carrying a weapon on campus and several counts of obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Oh well, if he owned a gun 6 years previously, good thing those racists murdered him.

Even 1960s Mississippi managed to bring lynching assholes to trial, but there is a chance we will see justice. I wonder if the Peach state will break my heart again.
