I had a really intense one two nights ago where my mom was wounded and bleeding to death in a bathtub. When I woke up I called her to see if ask was okay. I don't even believe in that psychic shit but I still had to call and make sure, that's how intense it was.
I am doing that waking up and doing stuff thing pretty regularly now.
A couple of days ago, there was an injured child screaming for her Mama that I was still hearing when I got out of bed. I knew it was just a dream, but I also knew I had to do a quick sweep of the house or I wouldn't get back to sleep, so I did.
Then, last night was the worst. I got up around 3:30 to get ready because Matlock and I were going to get tacos.
It's only a matter of time before I actually leave the house. I need to hide my keys at night or something.
One thing that might be helpful is to cover or plug your ears and see if it muffles the sounds. I've done a variant of this with my glasses. While full dreams sometimes seem to understand that glasses off things are blurry and on they are sharp, more base level hallucinations don't and become blatantly obvious they're just funny dream hallucinations when they stay razor sharp while the room goes blurry.
But I'm not sure what your issue is with 3:30 tacos, you say this as if it's a strange thing or something.
I actually have a sleep mask/headphones thing that covers my eyes and ears.
The one thing I have noticed is that that stuff seems to mostly happen when I'm sleeping on my back. I don't know how much I can even control that, though.
I read somewhere that WW1 soldiers with a snoring habit would sew uncomfortable weights into the back of their jackets to prevent rolling onto their backs in the trenches.

Doesn't need to be weights. Something light like corks works just as well, or you can just sew on some buttons, providing that the buttons are big enough so that they're uncomfortable to sleep on.
A friend who had sleep apnea issues from sleeping on her back made some sort of tennis balls in a sock she would strap to her back (I'm sure there are better instructions besides, place tennis balls in sock, affix to back until uncomfortable.) That helped her not roll over onto her back in the night.
I am not responsible if you dream about being chased around by the Wimbledon ball boys.
Ugh I sometimes get tired of living near a police shooting range. Had a dream that I was near a mall where someone was shooting automatic weapons at people and now it's time to play, actual mass shooting anxiety or has automatic weapons training started early today. The answer, why not both!
I do sometimes worry I'm going to be near a shooting and my first thoughts will be 'oh that sounds like a 5.56 carbine, with poor trigger control', and not 'Duck!"
I was riding a train that had this Intercity layout: compartments with doors on one side and a narrow corridor along the length of the carriage on the other and some space at the exits on either end. I had to get out of that corridor quickly because there was another small train, about 1m high, driving through there and it was really fast. Like 150 km/h or something.
Matlock was leaving for work wearing highwater flared leg pants and ankle boots with probably two and a half inch heels. I thought, "Well, that looks ridiculous, but he is a grown man who is allowed to wear whatever he likes," but then, I remembered that he is going directly to a concert after work today, so I woke myself up saying, "Those shoes are going to hurt."
I have exhaustion induced hypnogogia, which is just an amusingly fancy way of saying not all my brain bits fall asleep at the same time, especially when I'm over tired and exhausted, generally leaving me 'conscious' during the early bits of sleep, or in some cases almost all of it. While this sometimes sucks it has generally presented itself as audible music, play like silent movies or partial dream like experience but partly removed. Which is often nice to fall asleep too so long as I actually get to sleep.
As I've experienced it more and done some drugs I've begun to realize that at least a part of these sounds and visions are a memory processing and categorization process. Things of the day or since the last memory dump are replayed and merged with previous memories or are compared to them and modified by them before being stored away, There's a whole sometimes exhausting to watch review and integration system that goes on as part of sleep.
Now I mention all of this because on the weekend I did stage hand work for a Ballet and finally got to see the production, although from side on seats, it went quite well! The other night I watched a bit of pre-sleep ballet integration and while recently randomly dancing around I noticed myself moving more ballet like for no purposeful reason, I wasn't as if I was consciously thinking about the ballet at all, but it has changed my motion slightly. A motion change I didn't have after watching the ballet but before seeing bits integrated (it was at least only bits, I did happily get to sleep not too long after). Which has me thinking about visual learning and whether it wasn't just visual memories being adjusted but movement memories being adjusted by purely visual data.
Well, I was a bit sick last night, and apparently that translated into a monster hotel.
So, I'm in this hotel, and I notice a lot of ghosts. Then there are monsters feeding off the living people residing in the hotel. I'm trying to convince some of the hotel guests that they're in danger, but no one listens. I wander into a room while trying to convince a lady in a dark suit, only to have a particularly powerful entity appear. This entity sees me, but doesn't seem to care, even though he knows I'm trying to raise an alarm. He then instructs this lady she has some cleanup to do. "But keep the eyes, I like to have green eyes." Somehow I understand that this entity that looks like a person has at least 8 eyes in his head, none of which are exactly his own, and they (obviously) all green.
I ask if I can follow her to where she's going, while still trying to convince her there are ghosts in the hotel - why I need to convince her of this isn't clear, because she must be working for this supernatural entity. As I'm following her down the hall I manage to pass my shopping bag through an old lady pushing a baby carriage. Both the old lady and the lady in a dark suit notice this, and so the suited lady pushes me into a bathroom and starts constructing a device out of 3 iphones and an ipod classic.
Meanwhile the old lady is spying on us through cracks in the door, so I'm trying to dissuade her by poking my iphone into the cracks and giving her the finger. A puppy tries to stick its nose through the crack and take my iphone. Then, the old lady who was white now vaguely looks like Octavia Spencer and it looking through the window above the door.
I tell her that she better stop spying on us or I'll punch her, but can't quite bring myself to actually do it. I don't know if the window above the door actually had glass, it was inconsistent. Why I think punching a ghost would work isn't clear, and my fake-out punching in her direction doesn't cause her to flinch. The lady in the suit then stands on the bed (in the bathroom) and threatens to pull out her nose ring.
Found myself at work in a pair of summer shorts and no shirt. Fortunately there was blue raincoat on hand (in hindsight it was exactly like my kid's raincoat but in my size) so I put that on and decided I definitely would not be visiting the main office at all that day.
