Ah-hah!
There are two kinds of humor; things which are funny because of a context switch or something similar, and things which are funny because they make some target look bad.
The former can be funny even when they rely on stereotypes, because the humor is actually humor. The latter are only funny if you buy into the stereotype or whatever, because they are about making some target look bad. If you don't find it inherently amusing to see that target made to look bad, it won't be funny.
And the thing is, the former category can survive without any implication that you have an opinion on the topic, but the latter can't.

This is an example of Blige racism. This thread is about blithe racism. Please stay on topic.

Exactly.
When I was a small child, I was apparently gleefully describing a cartoon in which a cat and a mouse interact, and the cat is repeatedly killed, and my mom asked if it didn't bother me, and I said "but it's not about the cat". Pretty sure this is an example of this. (At that age, and even quite a bit later, I did not have the internal model that cats experienced happiness or sadness; I would be randomly mean or nice to them mostly based on whether I thought a given action made them behave interestingly. Empathy: Not my strong point.)

I thought it was discussing a new thing not the original bubble.
According to this, the story isn't even about minorities really. And that picture is really bad...how did nobody go "Uh, WTF" when it was presented?

Re: More blithe racism
Paula Deen is racist and can't quite figure out why there's anything wrong with that.

Other things Deen would say are remarks that could be construed as racist jokes, though Deen said they are more accurately described as “just jokes”: “It’s just what they are—they’re jokes…most jokes are about Jewish people, rednecks, black folks… I can’t determine what offends another person,” Deen is quoted as saying, demonstrating a rare misstep for Paula Deen’s otherwise-refined sense of taste.

Moar like "I can't be fucked to waste time determining what offends another person" amirite! Also, lol "otherwise-refined sense of taste" and how the antebellum South was just so purdy cuz of the way colored boys enslaved working in restaurants dressed.

Damn PC crowd. You can't celebrate a good southern wedding with dressed up tap dancing n****r slaves anymore without the media blowing it all out of proportion.
The media?
Hell, I think that might have even made a guy like Strom Thurman pucker up a little.
Not even a half ass political "sorry you were offended", but instead, "Sorry you're too stupid to get the joke and are all offended because the media told you to be."

Re: More blithe racism
The Buzzfeed link with the actual lawsuit was interesting, it totally sounds like something out of Kitchen Nightmares, with the staff actually on edge waiting for Bubba's daily violent tantrum in between viewings of porn on the kitchen computers.
While stick a butter Pauly is also an angry racist, the more damning bits come right after that when you discover Bubba, I almost got a slave wedding, Deen requires his black employees to enter through the back only, use the back non-customer restroom, and tries to keep the black help in the back especially after one black hostess didn't steal a white patrons purse (but was accused of it.)

I wouldn't call this blithe and I almost put it in the science forum to see how viable it is.
Klansman and accomplice charged for building radiation gun

Two men, one of them a member of the Ku Klux Klan, were arraigned today in Albany, N.Y., on federal charges of plotting to build a mobile radiation gun intended to kill Muslims – or “medical waste,” as the plotters called their intended targets.

The case has been under investigation by a Joint Terrorism Task Force since at least April 2012, when Crawford allegedly reached out to Jewish organizations, asking if Israel would be interested in such a weapon to kill its enemies.
