Hah. I had to do it the hard way. If we get a Zardoz, Ima ask for special editing dispensation. So what if that poast is nearly 7 years old. This is important.

I am so proud to live in a country where a citizen can defend himself from people whose GPS directs them to the wrong driveway and from his own urologist.
Both shooters were white guys. Didn't want to ruin any surprises or anything.

Florida man shoots himself in the head while demonstrating gun safety
The moron way.
Oh God. The comments on that article are horrible. I can't help but wonder whether or not the media are getting this right. First of all, the victim is less than a man. That fucking headline is total click bait. The 18 year-old lost his father to murder a week after his mother died of cancer. The father was killed in a home invasion, so I can't even imagine the paranoia that kid was facing. Confronting his own mortality in a time that young people are supposed to feel invincible.
Incidentally, the father's case I found all over pro-gun sites, because the assailants entered the house crying "Police! Police!" *
*Warning, all these links contain paranoid gun owners who think they are the risen Jesus and could never do wrong. Get a barf bag if you are going to read.
Here is another link about the case that gives a little more info. Watch the video.
Seriously, I have to wonder if this might have been suicide. If not, I will say that the trauma of witnessing his father's murder might have lead to an increased sense of needing to protect himself. Immense paranoia. Add to that the hysteria about guns in the news and you have a perfect storm. Feeling the need to defend his choice to carry a weapon, which he was unschooled in, and proving it to his friends.
Shit. I remember being 18. I was morbid as hell and convinced I was about to be a statistic. Then my dad died of cancer and I was completely alone and I felt like the world was coming to get me. I didn't have to witness my father being gunned down though.
God, this is such a tragic case. And seriously, I loathe people who take gleeful judgement in the worst of cases but seriously, shut the fuck up and let people grieve. Also, I am banning ANY news media with facebook integration. That shit is just sick and breeds the worst kind of bullshit.

Sad.
While it may have been suicide, what they describe is a commonish mistake. Revolvers rotate the cylinder then fire, not the other way around. So removing the bullet from the chamber aligned with the barrel wont do much to prevent the cylinder from rotating and the next bullet over being fired when the trigger is pulled. This mistake can be seen in at least a few movies where the special effects look down the barrel of a revolver to the special marked bullet about the be fired and not an empty casing.
The reason people think it's so is because Western Lore says to keep the chamber empty for safety reasons. But, it's to prevent the gun going off if the hammer gets knocked back and then springs forward, like if it was dropped or something.

Much of MADNESS, and more of SIN, and HORROR the soul of the plot.
Ymir's blood has it right, in the old single-action revolvers, if the gun were dropped and the hammer were struck, the firing pin would strike the primer or percussion cap (depending on if cartridge or cap and ball), which would fire. Modern revolvers have a safety device that prevents that from happening, a hammer block or a transfer bar, which rises between hammer and firing pin when the trigger is pulled. When the transfer bar is down, the hammer cannot strike the firing pin accidentally.

Walmart shopper mad that the store refused to honor a $1 off internet coupon, threatened them with a .38 Special revolver. The concealed weapons permit holder then subsequently refused to cooperate with the police officer that stopped her after Walmart called the incident in, got herself tased and cuffed when she reached for the passenger seat area of her car. She was booked on four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of battery, the latter for hitting the assistant manager with a shopping cart.
In her defense, it was a dollar off coupon, not just 50 cents. I mean, a whole dollar.
