Smiley glitches in IE

On this PC (Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7.0.6000.16546) the bottom row of pixels in flickers on and off as the smiley animates

Also true for several other of the new 'shake' smilies:

I've discovered how to fix that, but it's a solution I hate. I have to set the smilies in a larger canvas, leaving at least a 2 pixel border of blankness all the way around the perimeter. That makes them misalign in posts which makes me .

I wish there were some other way to fix them, but I have yet to uncover it.

The only way to fix it is to lynch Bill Gates.

They look fine in Firefox. Incident closed: user error. Replace user and continue.
