Re: Isolation diaries
After my first Pfizer I was tired in a very specific way. It wasn’t mental or physical just a general sense of “WTF is that! Everything go to low power mode till we get this sorted!” My second one is coming up soon and I plan to just sleep for the next couple days after.

Re: Isolation diaries
It's the chips in the vaccine.
Once installed they need to download several week's worth of updates.

I didn't have much reaction to my first Pfizer. I was all ready to be sick, but it turned out nothing or close to it.
I totally got the exhaustion thing after the second, though, so I know just what you mean. It was bizarre. At first, I lost my coordination and banged myself up a couple times just walking around, and then the exhaustion hit like FWOOM.
So get yourself settled in at home afterward, because I'm really glad I wasn't driving or something when that happened.

Re: Isolation diaries
Ms. Puppet had full-blown flu-like symptoms after the 2nd shot, which included the exhaustion plus other symptoms that took a few days to abate. My unlearned guess is that because her immune system is weaker, it took longer for antibody assembly.
Li'l Puppet was just tired the next day of shot #2, then fine.
I'm still the only person to get the J&J that I know, at least IRL.

Re: Isolation diaries
Since the mRNA vaccine isn’t just the protein spike, it’s the protein spike as made by your own body and thus very much in places it shouldn’t be, some of the immune response seems to be how much of an overall alarm it should raise while spreading the word of what the bad guy looks like.
Like your alone, about to have dinner, have set the table for one and look away for a moment. When you look back there’s a second chair you’ve never seen before opposite yours but nothing else has changed.

I know at least one acquaintance who was sick for a few days after his second shot.

Re: Isolation diaries
I don’t actually know the etiquette of men’s rooms so serious question. Without the social distancing guidance, would a man queue up closer than that to go next?

Re: Isolation diaries
I presume the joke is that the user needs to stand at that distance.
General etiquette is that you don’t queue for a specific urinal but just the urinals in general and do so along a wall not actually behind the urinal.

Re: Isolation diaries
Basically, you need to pretend you're not actually waiting for a urinal. Everything else is weird.

As much as I want to say this as well, it’s just not true. People aren’t actually as stupid as it seems, they are however emotional physical animals, who can only deal with so much. What I learned is that many are being purposefully kept at 90%-100% of their emotional capacity at all times so that when something like this comes along, many were already at a breaking point to begin with and emotionally can’t cope with the additional load.

2nd Moderna shot today. I'm also on-call for work, so I took an antihistamine and an NSAID prophylactically. We'll see what happens.

Re: Isolation diaries
I had my second AstraZenneca jab on Monday. No bad side effects this time: just a slightly sore arm, and a slight headache on Tuesday, and a hint of dizziness for a few minutes Tuesday bedtime.

We have a backup, and I've already asked to cover me tomorrow if I'm too sick to work. I am planning to work unless I am completely incoherent.
