What's the thing with the holes between the shelves?

Re: Need Gamer Help!
I'm working off my phone (stupid @werk proxy), but...
Left top shelf:
N64, Gamecube, Gamecube
Left middle Shelf:
NES, Famicom (Japanese NES) on top of it, late model US NES, Super NES
Bottom left shelf:
Dreamcast, the other one appears to be a late model Genesis, but I don't know what that is sitting on top of it...the Sega CD peripheral maybe?
The things between the shelves are pair of 4 port A/V switches, turned on their sides and stacked...I'm pretty sure they're the same RCA model I used to have.
Top right shelf: Xbox
Middle right shelf: shit ton of handhelds
Bottom right shelf: I don't know what that Sega system is, late model PS2 with a late model PS1 sitting on top of it
ETA: - we've got lawyers and biologists and historians and engineers, and then we've got the guy who recognizes old vidya game consoles...

Re: Need Gamer Help!
Ok, after five minutes of googling:
The thing on top of the Genesis is the 32X add-on.
The unidentified Sega system on the bottom right is a Saturn.

Re: Need Gamer Help!
Saturn and Dreamcast were both flops, weren't they?
Thanks Adam ♥

More or less, although some people swear that the Dreamcast was a technically superior machine that just lost the marketing game.

Re: Need Gamer Help!
My cousins had a lot of those systems, including a Virtual Boy, which I'm surprised this person doesn't seem to have.

Re: Need Gamer Help!
I harrumphed at the collection of so-called console systems simply because the poseur doesn't have Pong, Atari or Intellivision systems. Fucking 80s babbys walking across my lawn.

Re: Need Gamer Help!
Should Pong really count as a console system? It's more of a precursor.

Re: Need Gamer Help!
The handhelds are basically each generation of Gameboy and DS or whatever the new fangled one is that occasionally makes you yell at its mic to get past things.
They need more variety in their handhelds, I remember I loved my Sega GameGear, well for the 3 hours or so it got on it's whopping 6 AA batteries.
A question relevent to this thread, I wonder what old NES and SNES stuff is worth and/or if there's anyone that really wants it. I was recently cleaning out some boxes and found a number of old nintendo power magazines and assorted gaming equipment.

Re: Need Gamer Help!
I got a Mattel Intellivision system for free just for sitting through a condo sales presentation. It only took three months and a letter to the Wyoming Attorney General to get it. The system sucked, it wore my thumbs out worse than a NES with that disc controller thing. Needed a joystick.

I was just saying that to a friend last night, that the Game Gear was the ultimate battery-muncher. I've seen the NES/SNES go for like $50 at GameStop when I'm in the US.
I had the original Game Boy and the clear one (from the Play It Loud series).
Adam, it was something I found on Tumblr.

That box is so early 80's I think I'm either going to vomit or have a seizure.

Adem properly identified the consoles.
The handhelds are from left to right (mostly in order of release anyway):
*Game Boy (the original big brick)
Game Boy Pocket
*Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance SP (this is the one that's out of order, this is the GBA redesign)
*Game Boy Advance
Game Boy Micro
*Nintendo DS
Nintendo DSi
The Nintendo DSi looks very similar to a 3DS, but the 3DS has a layered color scheme: the top, middle and bottom are different shades on the basic models (limited edition colors may be different).
*Ones that I've owned

Maybe so, but that controller was ass.
Weird blocky shape, non-ergonomic grips, and a hard, pointy D-Pad.
I bought it after it was clearly going to lose and the price was dropped significantly... still a bad decision.
