Everyone's freaking out about petrol (y'know, gasoline) because due to Brexit (and they would like to blame covid too) there are no HGV drivers.

But where are you going to drive to? The same lack of drivers means the shops don't have any food, and your friends and family don't have any food.

Oh and due to a sharp rise in the wholesale price of natural gas we're all going to get hypothermia over the winter anyway.

I think “Fabian Stäber” is manufacturing outrage there. The colour-coded energy efficiency scale for lamps used by the EU was recalibrated recently. The new scale was introduced on Sept 1. In Britain its implementation date was a month later; ie. two weeks ago. So the EU’s and the UK’s standards were out of sync for the month just gone, but are back in harmony now. The tweet exposes a temporary anomaly then, rather than an environmental scandal, I reckon.

The title is self-evidently true, but the content of the article is lunatic fringe stuff. He's not reading the same Guardian I am, which may be a bit nuanced and insufficiently outraged for him but never fails to point out that the shortage of HGV drivers - and abattoir workers - is entirely because of Brexit. 1 out of 5 red stars.

I am amused though by A++, A+, A, then B,C,D. I’m not sure how common this is in the UK, but here in the US everyone would look at A as top grade and not realize it was a C.
