I saw the word "freethought," and it occurred to me to use it as a search term for an intelligent and and empathetic forum. I've been enjoying myself already. I feel like there are people here with whom I can communicate. I don't anticipate being attacked by authoritarians losing control of the narrative.

"Free thought" is widely misinterpreted by people finding this forum as "I can say what I like and not get any criticism for it". (Standard ragequit line: "So much for free thought".)
You seem to have understood it a bit better
