We need to 2-4 volunteers to test-drive the first ever game of
Classic Scrabble rules apply. Each player will be PMed seven individually lettered tiles randomly selected from the pile of game pieces to start (the GM will be using a blind grab bag) which will be used to spell out words from the dictionary across and down in crossword fashion on a 15-by-15 grid game board.
Each letter is assigned a point value and the goal is to score the most points overall by the time all (or mostly all) of the tiles have been used up.
It will take a litte bit of BBCODE know-how, but I set it up to be as understandable and easy to read as possible and given the pace we will be moving at, even a beginner should be able to figure it out in just a matter of turns and get the hang of it. And, of course, I will be here to help you if you have any questions at all. So feel free to join in and play.
This is the board we will be playing on:

After each turn I will PM the player as many new letters as they have used to spell out a word.
Some spaces when used will increase the point value of an individual tile or an entire word score: 2XL = Double letter score 3XL = Triple letter score 2XW = Double word score 3XW = Triple word score
I will keep track of each player's scores and display them after each round.
I will also keep the following keys under a spoiler tag in my signature for easy access throughout the game:
First letters drawn are made public to see who goes first depending on who's letter is closer to the letter 'A'.
PLAYER 1 draws an . PLAYER 2 draws a .
PLAYER 2 goes first.
The letters drawn go back in the pile and each player is PMed seven new letters.
For the example this will be disclosed. I will keep a record of letters drawn and will post a complete history as the end of the game which will break down what happened each turn.
ROUND ONE
PLAYER 1 draws seven tiles.
PLAYER 2 draws seven tiles.
You must use at least two letter tiles per turn. is a wild card and can represent any other letter when placed on the board.
First letter always starts on the space. Words are vertical and horizontal, so PLAYER 2 could spell from H8 to K8 on the grid, or they could spell in the same row from H8 to H12.
PLAYER 2 takes their turn. PLAYER 2 spells "COSY". PLAYER 2 scores 9 points.

And that's what two rounds would look like. Of course it is a good idea to preview your post to make sure your placement on the board is correct before you post.
This is crazy... I was just thinking how I had suddenly become 's resident ... and then CNN happened to be on the TV for a minute and played this video.
I also forgot that the the center square counts as pink, and for some reason made pink squares 3XW instead of 2XW scores. My bad. All such glitches will be gone for the main event.
That's cool. I'm okay with real English, but I will also be checking my own dictionary as the authority for challenged words. If it's a word in the UK, it's a word everywhere.
