Uh. Do these guys honestly believe they're not transparent like that tech co. HQ with all the glass walls people were walking into?
Right, and...
NOT WEAK! NO WEAK! YOU'RE THE WEAK!!!
Okay, that fits the pattern. Also, someone told a narcissist 'no' which is such a:

Oh hey, the Tweet text has NOTHING TO DO with what Harper said. What a classic out-take there.
But you should watch this interview and listen to what Harper said.

I just found out North Korea has a golf course at Pyongyang, if the summit doesn't include something about Trump arranging to visit Pyongyang in North Korea I will be quite surprised.

Thumbs up! Wanna be dictator of previously democratic republic of united states gives thumbs up to current murderous dictator of starving people. Not only is it funny because both are doing this just for the photo op but because it's clear yokel in office doesn't actually understand what power he's been put in charge of, and sees the NK dictator on equal footing since people cheer for him at parades he must be important. Also we should give Trump some credit, this does give many North Korean media photoshop artists a day off, good for him thinking of the little person.

Re: Good King Trump
I just don't get what Trump is trying to accomplish with these tariffs, especially the steel tariffs.
I mean they could work against say Canada, IF we had more than enough domestic production to make up for the reduced imports OR we could import cheaply from somewhere else. Given though the the US Steel Industry is a shell of what it once was and Trump is applying tariffs to pretty much all steel imports, what the fucking good is this going to do other than drive up prices of consumer goods in the US?
Is that his point, fuck over the working class even more because he's not squeezing enough value (for the wealthy) out of the horrendous tax bill? It will slow down real economic growth, but probably cause another surge in the stock market, because America fuck yeah! Which again only puts money in the pockets of the already wealthy.

Re: Good King Trump
One of Trump's few consistencies is his contention that the US isn't getting a good enough deal in any of our economic relations with other countries. There are 2 possible reasons:
1. He really is too stupid to understand that every deal the US has set up, anytime, anywhere, has been carefully arranged to benefit the US first and foremost, without exception.
2. He actually understands this, and simply wants to squeeze out more, since more is always better.
It doesn't particularly matter which one is correct. The result will be the same: short-term gain for Trump and the rest of the plutocracy, long-term loss for everyone -- including them, eventually, but they'll always have enough of a safety net to avoid the pain they inflict on the rest of us.

Re: Good King Trump
The Trump part is explainable by Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I've seen it up front and first hand and have joked* that one of the Trump kids is going to be the dubious winner of the Daddy's Least Favourite of the Week will lottery. **
Here's a guy who writes about it on a regular basis. A thread on the topic:
The Hoarse Whisperer on Twitter: "I understand narcissistic personality disorder like the back of my hand. Trump is as familiar as an old movie, so let me share some intel.1/"
tl;dr - Narcs need only praise, and to avoid shame.
But you really, really, really get to know this disorder inside and out if you want to understand how Trump gets manipulated and why he blows his stack when he does. In Trudeau's case, he told Trump 'no'. There's other factors but those are most likely related to the flying monkeys that enable/manipulate him.
Regarding trade deals. I believe there's some unholy alliance of isolationists and financiers/industrialists/oligarchs who understand how to monetise isolationism, as Sock Puppet said in his conclusion. Where Trump comes in is the NPD. He does not understand mutually beneficial. There are only winners, and losers. Everything is binary. It's not even 'America First' in his head, it's 'Trump gets raving crowds of fan worship by Americans'. IF the America First metho doesn't work, well, it's pretty clear what he sees in Kim Jong Un's parades and forced at gunpoint worship. Doesn't matter to Trump, in his mind none of the rest of us are really sentient creatures anyway.
*By joked I mean, I just don't care. In fact, I'm making popcorn to watch. The only one I'd feel sorry for would be Barron.
**In our family's case, the winner of Daddy's Most Favourite bought the Least Favourite winner a really nice car. Because fuck daddy right in the ear. I come by my special hatred of narcissists and their enablers honestly.

Re: Good King Trump
I'd like to add to that the importance of that oligarch angle and other forces at work in trade dispute. Clinton is also scary internationally on the trade front, and I believe that under a Clinton presidency there would also have been some actions taken leading to a dispute.
The dispute would just have been far more civil and focused on coming to some form of an agreement, rather than feeding Trump's ego.

Re: Good King Trump
Trump antagonizes and insults democratically-elected leaders of allied nations like Trudeau -- and praises and claims to admire autocrats like Kim, Duterte, Erdogan, and Putin.
One of the few things Trump is consistent on is his admiration for autocrats. That makes sense, given that he is an autocrat at heart.
An NPR commentator suggested today that the Chinese told Kim, "stroke his ego and Trump will agree to anything you want." That might well be true.

The Guardian view on Trump in Singapore: a huge win – for North Korea | Editorial | Opinion | The Guardian
Quote:
The US president made a major concession at his summit with Kim Jong-un, for minimal return
|
Quote:
The US president handed over gift after gift in exchange for the inflation of his ego. He does not know or does not care that his country went home poorer than it came.
|
That's the funny part.
Quote:
In return Mr Trump axed the drills with, it seems, no warning to Seoul (or even US forces). Worse, he described them as “provocative” and “inappropriate”, not just giving the North what it wanted, but suggesting it was right to demand it. He added that he hoped to withdraw US troops from South Korea at some point – further undermining the long alliance.

Not even to mention, we have a trade surplus with Canada, so there is little justification to villify Canada in the first place.

Re: Good King Trump
Ok, so I've always avoided Twitter. Don't know why, but Facebook got me first, and that satisfies my cycles of narcissism/self-loathing. Anyway, after all the hoopla about Trump and Twitter, I decided to create a Twitter account and follow just the principle players in this game, DJT, Ivanka, Jared, Jr., etc.. I've been reading bits and pieces of the Twitstorm in the media, but I wanted to read it first hand... very, very, interesting.
My first take-away from the piles of shitposts I've waded through is this: where the hell do we go from here??? The divisions are deep and both sides are letting each other have it with both shit-barrels. I'm most ashamed of the comments coming from my side of the fence, because I think my side is the right side, and I'd like to continue to believe that we have the moral high ground. But, HOW we deliver the message is just as important as WHAT the message is. Maybe even more-so.
I think there is no doubt this president, and his entourage, are going to go down hard. The self-destruction in that circle is more than enough to predict a bad outcome. So, the question for us anti-Trumps is going to be: how are we going to handle the implosion of our own president? Are we going to hurl insults and I-told-you-sos, which is going to just drive us into deeper division, making Democracy completely impossible? Or are we going to try to reach out to the Trumpsters and help them understand that compromise is the only civil way forward? Is compromise even possible? Have we already gone off the cliff???

Given things like the T fucking the P and other graphically questionable things I kinda wonder if there isn't a few people in their design department trying to take the piss out of them expecting to be rejected and everytime someone higher up is like "That's great, run with it!"
I left twitter awhile back and feel so much better for it. The cesspool of twitter makes youtube comments look sane and educated by comparison.

The Trump crowd, at this point, is fully in thumbs-in-ears, la-la-la-I-can’t-hear-you mode. They really have no choice at this point; unless you truly believe that “fake news” horseshit without exception, there’s no way you can continue to support him. Hell, you even have to avoid a lot of what he brags about, let alone what he denies. So I don’t see any way forward that involves them at all. Frankly, no one who voted for him should ever even vote again, and everyone who supported him should never be involved in politics again.
It’s not just “I told you so.” It’s “Do you understand why this was wrong?” I despair that enough of them will ever answer yes.

Re: Good King Trump
Well, I can say that in my own little bubble of personal experience, there is not going to be anything in the way of accepting responsibility from those in my family who support Trump. As a matter of fact, the last conversation I had with my mom was in January, and she hung up the phone on me and she hasn't communicated with me or the kids since. That relationship has gone off the cliff for sure. But, in all fairness, that relationship was always on the brink of the void.
Then there is my girlfriend. There have been times that I've seriously thought I should end it because of her support for Trump. She is Filipino and very good looking, and at times I have wondered if I was being sexist/racist for giving her so much slack on the subject. If she were a white American, at the first mention of Fox News, all she'd have seen of me was ass and elbows (in a cloud of dust). But, it's not just the pretty face that keeps me coming back to her, it's because her family does not support her position at all, and they are politically very similar to me. At least I know the forces in her inner circle are guiding her in the right direction, so I'm not that distressed by the situation. My gut tells me just to be as nice as I can about it, and that kindness and patience will win her over. It already has to a great extent.

Unfortunately, I think that if we divide the party into roughly two politotypes (I think I just made up a word), there will be those who go along with the charade because they stand to benefit from the policies, and those who don't know it's a charade or that they won't benefit from the policies, either.

I hope I'm merely being flip when I suggest a good solid round of Denazification would do the trick, because if it turns out I'm not being flip, well, the mass graves will be the likes unseen since the Trail of Tears.
