Re: BREAKING: Sometimes Famous People Die
RIP former first lady Rosalynn Carter. Wouldn't be too surprised if Jimmy follows quickly. (I'm one of the six or seven people who voted Carter in 1976 and 1980, and those remain the two POTUS votes with which I'm the most pleased.)

I once worked the kitchen at a hotel where a number of politicos attended party activities and fundraisers.
Of all the ones for whom these activities were held at our hotel while I was there, Governor and Mrs. Carter were the only such people who took the time to come back to the Kitchen and greet the workers that helped put on the Banquets.

Almost makes a fella wish hell was real so that ol' Henry could spend eternity getting tortured in ghastly ways, side-by-side with Zbigniew Brzezinski.

The harshest criticism I've yet seen is Medvedev praising him as a pragmatist who faithfully served his country. Fuck's sake. Live your life so that Medvedev never praises you.

Re: BREAKING: Sometimes Famous People Die
Former SCOTUS Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. To her credit, she kept Roe v. Wade alive, in somewhat attenuated form, with her votes and opinions in Webster v. Reproductive Health Servs. (1989) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992). On the minus side, Bush v. Gore and a host of Establishment Clause cases supporting "ceremonial deism" (which was neither "ceremonial" nor "deism").
I doubt we'll ever see another 99-0 Senate vote to confirm a Supreme Court justice.
