5 inches of rain so far. It started Saturday and hasn't stopped yet. It snowed a little this morning and froze over some, but gave way to rain again when the temps got to 34 F.
Maybe it will stop this afternoon.
From a "let's be more positive" perspective, 6 inches of rain would have been a metric crapload of snow had it been 10 degrees colder.

There is pretty much nobody out, except for a sprinkling of idiots such as ourselves.
The cool thing is, the people who do go out have this sort of camaraderie from being in the club of idiots who braved the weather, so everyone is all chatty and stuff.
I wanted to chide you because you have the burrito shop RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET, but then thought the owner prolly might not brave the treacherous roads to open and then I got sad because you'd be burritoless.
The burrito lady lives just down the street from us, so she's probably open.
It would be difficult to overestimate how hardcore she is, also.
OK. I went out into the driveway to do reconnaissance for you, Bort, and it looks like all the stores are open! Local business owners are a rough and tumble lot.
I guess I really did get acclimatized to the Houston, TX weather, at least to the relatively warmer winters. It's not been ridiculously cold, but I've felt all wimpy and non-Nordic about it lately. Plus, the ice on the windshield has laughed contemptuously at my pitiful scraper the last couple days, so there's that.
Anyway, the wife got me a nice new coat for Xmas, but it turned out to be too small in the arms. Meanwhile, both of my warm coats that I've had for like 20 years wore out their zippers at the same time. So just last night I got the replacement coat from Burlington. It's a Calvin Klein, so the fact that I found it at Burlington means it's probably a factory second, but I don't care 'cause it's p. awesome. Double zippered, removable hood, the whole ball o' worms. I am ridiculously happy with this coat.

We have crystal clear sunny weather with bright blue skies. The temperatures are sub-freezing and a wind that is moderate but persistent and gusting. Bone-cutting, in other words. Standing at a bus stop waiting for mass transit is no fun. Luckily, I no longer need to do so.
Pretty cold today. So we got a bifrost halo. Not evident from the picture, but the halo "sunrise" on the left is actually a strip of rainbow. The one on the right-hand side of the sun (out of the picture) was less evident and behind stuff.
Well, we got an inch plus of snow, topped with another quarter inch of ice and the traffic ground to standstill. It started melting yesterday , but probably firmed up again overnight.
It rained 2 days before Christmas, then caught everyone off guard with 9 inches of snow on Christmas eve.
It's snowing a little now; mixed with rain and some sleet. It should change to snow later. Yeah, commute home.
Then Canada is sending us some cold air for the weekend. With overnight temps close to 0F and windchills close to "balls receding back into body for shelter"
