Pot roast, but that's not the best part.

The best part is that all the lights in the kitchen burned out, so I made it IN THE DARK.

May God have mercy on our souls.

Thanks for the reminder! I'd forgotten that I need to stop at the $1 fucktillion light bulb store on the way home.

Why yes it was, the last time I got it, last year, it was good. This may be the leftovers from last year, it was brownish and yucky.

Really stupid question here: Do you leave those tiny bones in when you make the patties? The last time I tried to make salmon patties I freaked at the tiny bones and spent way too much time trying to pick them all out. I haven't made them since.

I've always just eaten the bones in canned salmon. In fact, when I was a kid, that was my favorite part. And supposedly, they're a pretty good source of calcium.

Canned tuna and salmon are extremely overcooked as part of the cooking process, which I suspect is what makes the bones soft and edible. There are even some types of canned dog food with bone-in chicken that's cooked so the bones are edible, too. I have been told (in the language of interpretive dance) that it's extra super delicious.

My favorite part of canned salmon are the vertebrae. I always leave the bones in, they are delicious and full of calcium, as Lisarea mentioned.

I love the salmon bones too, but if people get squicked over them, you can crush them up with a fork when you make salmon patties, and no one will be the wiser.

Last night: Spaghetti and garlic bread. Tonight: Popcorn and candy.
