Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
Here ... very windy, with strong gusts. Wheelie bins blown over all over the place, some branches down and one tree (that I've seen. I expect to hear of lots more, especially across railways), a section of fence along the main road, and the fence at the back of my garden. One side of the gate frame has ripped loose and the gate and half the fence are now leaning drunkenly into the alley.

And yet the BBC monthly outlook has just said no change in the weather is likely until the end of February.

Around here we were all SHUTDOWN EVERYTHING last Thursday. It was only like 6 inches. It was like everybody just developed a mass case of the fuck-its. We usually just deal with it for 6 inches.

I don't know what the temperature outside is, but if people in my house don't quit turning the thermostat up I am going to spontaneously combust.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
Yesterday I had spring cleaning at my house. It was that sunny and warm outside. Promising rain today, though. Do not want, especially since it will bring cooler temperatures with it.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
1/8 inch of ice and 2 inches of snow Monday morning. Then 54 degrees in the afternoon.
Today 65 F high.
The week ahead.
Wed 53/28
Thurs 39/33 snow/ice
Fri 45/23
Sat 35/22 snow/ice
Sun 33/20
Mon 27/15 snow
Tues 27/12
It will probably be 55 all week just to piss off the weather guy who never has to be right around here just not horribly wrong that the coming weather will suck. Anything better is forgiven.
Slippery week ahead. Or not.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
I ordered a set of tire chains for my truck, no-one stocks them around here. Now I will be able to get my pick-up the whole way up the hill to my house. We've had a bit of snow, enough that regular snow tires aren't enough, My daughters 4-wheel drive doesn't make it the whole way.

42 degrees today.
In related news, the puddles on the road from the melting snow are crazy. Since the foot of my driveway tends to puddle anyway, I expect a lake when I get home.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
67 degrees and cloudy. Everyone's running around in shorts and sleeveless shirts today. I'm like, slow down kids, the sun's not even out and it's not that warm in the shade, especially with the wind. But I get it, I also want to take advantage of it before it drops below freezing again next week. Plus they are still cranking the heat in the classrooms on account of it's winter, so I'm roasting my balls off trying to teach. Maybe I'm the one that needs to slow down after all.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
The fun of the spring freeze thaw cycle is the inevitable pothole. Yesterday I missed one about 6 inches deep in the center and about 5 feet in diameter. Well not really missed it as much as moved over enough that it didn't break my car.
One lady I worked with was on the news after her car dropped in a pothole here and it stopped her fast enough to set off the airbags, break out the front window of her car, and blow out both front tires, plus some other important underside parts. The city's policy is they don't pay for damages unless the pothole has been reported and they haven't fixed it within the arbitrary time period they set. So basically, FU stupid for not expecting a sinkhole.
What I expect on the bike paths until mid summer if we're lucky. Otherwise they just spray paint the potholes so you see them.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
the weather channel guy is HERE!
all i have to say is fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!
that means the storm, for which we have spent the day preparing, is going to be the as bad as it can get…. 17 inches of snow and 50 mph winds….
we expect things to go dark, so candles, propane grill, we'll be without running water (we have a well) so buckets and buckets of water (horses, chickens, people) fuel for the snow blower, snow shoes at the ready to get out to the animals, shovels at every door....
hope everyone stays safe, warm, dry and fed! we'll check in after that fact.... or not !
(“here” is the city across the bay, about 12 miles away, where i was earlier this morning, getting feed for the chickens)

We're supposed to get around 8-10 inches of the stuff today and tomorrow.
I'm so done with winter!

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
It's been unseasonally cool here for the past ten days with the temperature ranging between 18 and 26°C. We even had a day with a useful amount of rain at last. It's all good. With autumn approaching you won't find me whinging about the weather for a while.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
Lotsa snow on top of freezing rain made for a loooong commute yesterday (what usually is 15 minutes took an hour and a half) and the Dept of Transportation is advising everyone to stay home. The roads are basically long sheets of ice right now.

Re: How's the fucking weather where you are?
Since our winter was confiscated by the Americans for us not having oil or some such shit, I have had to shovel snow a total of ONCE this year. Which you'd think as a grown-up I would be quite happy about, but having it rain on the bare ground in February is so bizarre to me that I am thinking of joining a doomsday cult, because, hello!, the end is clearly nigh.
