Stupid piece of crap On Demand! So I am watching Lawrence of Arabia and get ALL the way to Intermission and go out for a smoke. After I come back in and just as I hit "play" it flips to the standby commercial crap. So instead of resuming at intermission, it starts over again.

This movie is LONG for those that don't know. It took two years to fucking shoot the film and it might take me that long to get back to where I left off. I have no chapter select or anything other than the lowest possible FF. WTF we now have a true steam of water coming down in the front room (not a trickle, a stream) due to rain, along with flooded kitchen from cleaning the outside trap this morning and still didn't get the clog out of the line. Dingfod is doing his best to get the line opened back up, in the mean time he is working on cleaning up the flood from the first attempt. Holy fucking hell. Who the fuck decided to give the Ralphie Wiggum of the neighborhood a freaking high powered slingshot? The kid is slower than slow, already a theiving-vandal-scam-artist, and teases the dogs and cats on the block like a little sociopath. I've already caught him aiming at my dog, through the fucking window of my house! Sylvie came to us abused by a ten-year-old boy, and we have worked hard to rehabilitate her with them. Most boys she is fine with now, but she fucking hates this kid. I can't say I blame her, but it has hurt her rehabilitaion. I'm going to have to talk to his grandad again. I fucking hate this shit.

I currently reside three time zones and 2200 miles away from you.

We have a new manager who transferred from a different store, and every time she has to tell someone that she would rather them do things differently, she freaken acts like we are the dumbest pieces of shit to ever walk our sorry asses across the planet.

Sorry if I have worked under a different manager for the last year and a half and have a LITTLE different way of doing things. It doesn't help that the other two assistant managers are from two other different stores and absolutely kiss her ass on the issue. They have already made my made-of-stone coworker break down in tears in front of me.

I had another meeting today and my bosses are trying to impress upon me how important and urgent it is that we go live with the site by June 30. I'm still waiting for approval from the State office for the initial design, so I'm at an impasse, but I assure my bosses that as long as I get the green light by April, that will be enough time. No biggie.

That's not the rant part. The rant part comes from the reason for the urgency. The site must be live by June 30 because I might not have a job come July 1. I knew that was a possibility when they hired me. The grant has to be rejustified each school year. But now they are making noises like this is really going to be the last year due to budget and blah blah blah economy-cakes. This, of course, coming from the same people who suggest that working in academia is great because it's immune to the economy.

I don't care that much about this job. I enjoy the work and the environment and the experience, but it's not about the money. Once I'm back in school I will bring more cash home from the GI Bill than I make working here, which is not really saying much. It's just the nerve of some people, setting the deadline of my project to be the day before they are going to fire me. WTF?! Rude.

The worst part is I'm totally going to do it, too.

Surprise surprise! It was a ridiculous and arbitrarily imposed deadline and an unrealistic budget! I said as much at the meeting when the budget and deadline were agreed.


And when I say 'meeting' I mean 'lecture', and when I say 'agreed' I mean 'laughed at'.

So, the project that was dumped in my lap in January, the one that supposedly only needed a few clarifications, two more easy business processes addressed and then some technical writing work to finish up IS A COMPLETE CLUSTER FUCK! I am having to re-write the use cases from line one. There is a flat metric ton of functionality that has not been addressed AT FUCKING ALL. The screen documentation is incomplete, incorrect and poorly written sometimes COMPLETELY FUCKING INCOMPREHENSIBLE. (Yes, I know that English is your second language. BITE ME!) I can't even complete the first fucking business process because I have so many questions for the developers.
