One of my colleagues died last night. He was a relatively young man, only in his early 50s. Just yesterday, we were sitting in the cafeteria, debating whether Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles was a better movie. And today he's gone. Apparently, he called 911 last night at about 1:00 a.m., complaining of chest pains. By the time the EMTs arrived though, he was already dead.
He was a real lover of life, with an "eat, drink and be merry" attitude. That, I suppose, was likely part of the reason he died young, since he had more than a little extra weight.
His best friend and I, Dr. H., were sitting together in the cafeteria today when one of the students came up and gave Dr. H. a hug, saying that she couldn't think of anything to say, but felt that she needed to do something.
We weren't especially close, but he was a good guy, and the world's a sadder place without him.

I'm surprised they installed them like that as if the wind happens to blow along the line then the turbines will all be in the wind shadow of the one the wind hits first.

So there was a possible shooting at the trade school-college thing I attended recently. I hate the fact that the first thing that came to mind after wondering if my old teachers were ok was that someone probably saw their first student loan payment. I think I may be out of outrage
Man, I really just don't like Boy Scouts. It seems like they're always just being huge assholes.
There were a couple of them outside this store I was trying to go in today supposedly selling their shitty popcorn, but their moms were at the table doing all the work and the boys were just straight up harassing customers, jumping in front of their carts and even at one point standing in front of cars that were driving past. TLM said they were going into his store and bugging the employees while they were working.
This is a very old I Hate Boy Scouts story: So I'm a teenager, I'm walking in the park by my house, and there is a Boy Scout troop having a picnic of KFC. And they're just throwing their trash on the ground. Chicken bones and napkins and cups and stuff. So I tell them to clean that up because it's trash and if dogs got into those bones, it could really hurt them. So the troop leader starts yelling that I had no right to tell him what to do, and I said something like, "I'll tell you what I damn well please," so the guy starts RUNNING AT ME with his face all red, like he's going to punch me, and calling me, and I quote, "comely foulmouth."
I get that they recently softened some of their more bigoted stances, but they're just a club for shitnozzles, near as I can tell.
Comely Foulmouth is my new punk band. I have dibs, so back off.

So, I was sitting with my favorite 4-year-old and my favorite 6-year-old at supper just a little while ago. One of their friends came to join us, and she had a bunch of Disney stickers, which she was giving out. She urged everyone to take their favorite character.
Well, of course, every right-thinking person knows that Elsa is the best, but Bella wanted Elsa. So, we compromised; I took Anna and Bella got Elsa.
So, I'm now sitting in my office, grading papers, and wearing a sticker with Anna's face on my left breast pocket.
