Re: Web Comics
So, I find myself feeling a bit validated as it seems at least so far that I was right. Automata is way better than Lookouts. I'm wondering what kind of conclusion or cliffhanger they'll find for it.

Re: Web Comics
Yabbut, Mike and Jerry didn't do Lookouts, some random people with no idea how to do comics did. I am enjoying Automata quite a bit, though.

Re: Web Comics
ES linked this strip in another thread, and I think this might be my favorite installment:
...just because it's so random and it made me realize that, for whatever reason, i still remember the PA strip its based on, from ten years ago.

Re: Web Comics
Have you seen Darths and Droids? (Quick search of thread says Darths isn't here.)
Barring that, Sam and Fuzzy may have something.

Re: Web Comics
Yeah, I've read Darths & Droids, but it wasn't as good as the one it was based on (the lord of the rings parody, that shit was hilarious)
checking out this other thing.

Re: Web Comics
at "Callous Darkpast", and the cop's entire speech in the last panel.
Also, if you read the story it's based on, you'll get fun flashbacks to, like, 1977. ZOMG, teh kids are playing teh Dungeons and teh Dragons and then getting violent! Also, the victim went out with a girl the attacker had a thing for, but really, it were the Dungeons, or possibly the Dragons, what made him do it!

Re: Web Comics
It's completely cheesy and ludicrous. In other words, it's just the original movie.

Re: Web Comics
I think the "joke", and I use that term loosely, according to the text they supply with the comic, is supposed to be that the fruit he's carving up is clearly a pear, as opposed to some sort of exotic space fruit.
I don't think this was really a joke comic, though. They've got a subplot going where the dude who plays Padme (he was Qui Gonn until he bit it, then he took over Padme, who was previously an NPC) is into the girl who plays Anakin, and I think the point here is all his/her goofy grinning, because he's interpreting things she/he said in character (in the previous installment) as meaning she's interested in him IRL.
I don't think Darth & Droids has actually made me laugh since Qui Gonn has been gone.

Re: Web Comics
I lost interest in it a while ago. Good premise and a good effort following on the heels of DM of the Rings, but the magic just isn't there this time.

Re: Web Comics
Yah, it went downhill pretty fast. It was really good at one time...for the love of fuck, they made Jar Jar sympathetic and entertaining! Freaking Jar Jar!

Re: Web Comics
To tell the truth I was never bothered all that much by Jar Jar. When consigned to the 'painfully stupid comic relief character' part of my brain he just doesn't bug me. Anakin's shitty acting and contrived alignment shift in II and III bothered me a lot more.
